Marvels Alien Promises Grisly Xenomorph Action In New Preview

Marvel Comics has just released a new preview of their upcoming Alien comic series, based on the popular film franchise from 20th Century Fox. The Xenomorphs will always be some of the most frightening alien species of all time, and they’ve definitely earned their place as a significant pinnacle of science fiction and pop culture. Now, Marvel Comics looks to maintain the fear of the Xenomorphs, continuing their story with Alien #1, promising plenty of gruesome and grisly action.

Just like when Disney purchased the Star Wars franchise and its comics rights went back to Marvel Comics (also belonging to Disney), Disney’s more recent purchase of 20th Century Fox has resulted not only in the acquisition of the Alien franchise but likewise its comics right as well. Like Star Wars, Marvel Comics is ready to release their own Alien comic series set in the franchise’s universe, and Marvel’s Alien #1 will be coming this March from writer Phillip Kennedy Johnson with art from Salvador Larroca.

In the newly released preview art, a splash page from Larroca reveals absolute Xenomorph horror, seeing two men helpless, having been caught in what looks to be a nest of the terrifying creatures. Trapped and stuck against one of the nest’s walls, several Xenomorph eggs surround the two humans, all while face-huggers crawl up their bodies to implant their embryos down their throats. As if that wasn’t bad enough, a fully grown Xenomorph slowly approaches them, prepared to devour them as soon as it gets the chance. Here’s the preview art and synopsis for the issue from Marvel Comics:

It seems as though this former Weyland-Yutani worker Gabriel Cruz has already had his own encounters with the Xenomorphs, and this splash page may be a flashback to that harrowing time in his life. However, the synopsis also reveals that there are more Xenomorph encounters he’s yet to have as the series continues, despite his attempts to return to a normal life with his android friend, which doesn’t bode well. Did a face-hugger implant an embryo in Cruz? Fans will have to wait and see when Alien #1 releases this March from Marvel Comics.
