Marvels BIGGEST Villain Had Powers Stripped by Doctor Doom

Doctor Doom fighting against Galactus is about as heavyweight of a villain battle as there’s ever been in Marvel Comics. However, once the two villains went toe-to-toe and unfortunately for the Devourer of Planets, Doctor Doom dismantled him in just about the most brutal way possible.

Some of the most entertaining fights in comics aren’t just heroes against villains, but when villains duke it out with each other. In Fantastic Four: The World’s Greatest Magazine Magazine (2001), by a massive creative team including Erik Larsen, Eric Stephenson, Bruce Timm, Joe Sinnott, Ron Frenz and more, Doctor Doom obtains the Cosmic Cube (home of the space stone), the Sacred Helix of Randac (which powers the Inhumans Terrigen chambers), the Ultimate Machine (infinite knowledge of the universe) and Annihilus’ Cosmic Control Rod (allowing him to manipulate all the items) and immediately launches an attack at Galactus in the name of obtaining his power. Galactus asserts his dominance as he claims he’s “the Alpha and the Omega,” and tries to squish doom with a closed fist. Doom isn’t pleased.

Despite being in the grasp of one of reality’s strongest beings, Doom breaks free with relative ease thanks to his cosmic object’s help. Doom manages to knock Galactus down and then starts siphoning his power for himself. Doom calls him a “pathetic fool” as he destroys Galactus’ armor. Galactus is shrunken down to his humanoid form. He is no longer the Devourer of Planets and a giant cosmic being, instead, he’s back to being Galen of Taa, the form he held before he turned into Galactus.

With Galactus’ and his collection of cosmic objects power at his disposal, Doom showcases just how strong he now is, passing through the heart of a star causing a supernova while taking no damage. Doom touches down on his home planet and easily disposes of Earth’s mightiest heroes including the Avengers, Inhumans, Atlanteans, X-Men, and just about every superteam and military force the world has. He destroys the White House and Mount Rushmore as the heroes watch in terror. So how do they take him down? With Marvel’s biggest comic monsters. Reed Richards creates versions of Fin Fang Foom, Blip, and the Living Colossus. He takes them down and decides to feed his newfound hunger and destroy Earth. Thankfully, Reed Richards monsters managed to distract him long enough so that he could snag the Cosmic Cube and put an end to Doom’s reign of terror. The Fantastic Four knock out a depowered Doom and restore Galactus and the other affected beings back to their old selves.

While Galactus is put back together by the end of the issue, the sheer dominance of Doctor Doom after he obtained all the cosmic objects was immeasurable. Thankfully, Reed Richards figured out a plan to stop him. Otherwise, Doctor Doom would have destroyed just more than Galactus, he would have feasted on the entire galaxy.
