Marvels New Pet Avengers Team Revealed (And Theyre AWESOME)

Warning! Spoilers for Thor #18 by Marvel Comics

Throg has assembled a new team of Pet Avengers in that are helping Thor track down his stolen hammer, Mjolnir. In Thor #18, the God of Thunder turns to the Uru-wielding frog for help searching for his hammer. However, Throg tells him that he’s aware of his quest and has already assembled a team consisting of some of the most powerful pets from across the Marvel Universe.

Puddlegulp was a former human who was turned into a frog as part of a curse by a fortune teller. When Thor transformed into a frog himself, Puddlegulp helped him defeat a group of rats. In return, Thor gave the frog a tiny piece of Mjolnir, which transformed him into Throg – the Frog of Thunder. Throg has previously been a part of the Pet Avengers and recently helped Thor take down Donald Blake alongside a team of some of Marvel’s most remarkable animals. Throg even made a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it live-action cameo appearance in the Loki streaming series on Disney+.

In this week’s Thor #18 by Donny Cates, Pasqual Ferry, Bob Quinn, Matt Wilson, and VC’s Joe Sabino, Thor is still reeling from his hammer being stolen from Avengers’ headquarters and turns to Loki for help. After he agrees, Thor heads to the Foreverglade on Midgard and pays a visit to Throg – who’s boasting to his fellow amphibians about defeating Donald Blake with his Uru hammer. After pulling him aside, Thor informs him of his situation, but Throg tells him he’s already aware his hammer is gone. Furthermore, Throg surprisingly reveals to Thor that he’s already put together his own Avengers squad to help him track down Mjolnir.

Throg searched far and wide for the new Pet Avengers team. To gain access to the ten realms, he recruited the Ravens Huginn and Muninn. Through then sails with the Marauders and convinces the dragon Lockheed to join the search. Next up, he arrives at the Sanctum Santorum and gets Bats the ghost dog to come with him as the team’s mystic. Finally, Trog recruits his good friend and former Pet Avengers ally Lockhjaw as his tracker, completing the six-member squad.

The book ends with an amazingly epic group shot of the new Pet Avengers forming together. The team might not be the tallest or most powerful Avengers squad ever assembled, but they’re much-needed allies to Thor and will surely be helpful in his search for his hammer. Throg and the Pet Avengers should not be underestimated. Thor #18 is in comic book stores now.
