Mass Effect Patch Fixes Xbox Headset Glitch Improves Graphics

Today, BioWare and Electronic Arts released Mass Effect Legendary Edition Version 1.02, an update tackles the Xbox Series X headset glitch and improves graphics. Mass Effect Legendary Edition’s Xbox bug became an issue out of the gate, preventing Series X players from using a wireless headset.

This odd hiccup showed itself whenever a player booted up the collection with a wireless headset connected to their console. Instead of working as intended, the game crashed and kicked users back to the Xbox dashboard. Wired headsets were safe in this regard and a temporary workaround allowed players to take a chance at using wireless headphones. Thankfully, BioWare managed to resolve this peculiar error and others in the bundle’s latest patch.

Earlier today, BioWare rolled out Version 1.02 for Mass Effect Legendary Edition across all platforms. Patch notes on Electronic Arts’ official website inform players that Version 1.02 fixes the “main issue” surrounding Xbox Series X’s headset bug; however, the launcher can still crash “if you enable/disable a headset in the launcher.” A future update will remove the problem once and for all, the blog post explains. Today’s patch also improves graphics for two of the three titles. Terrain textures receive improvements in the first entry and Mass Effect 2 gets enhanced lighting and shadows for certain cinematics, along with minor VFX and visual boosts. Finally, Version 1.02 resolves an issue where Mass Effect 3’s trophies/achievements weren’t properly tracking kills.

As Mass Effect Legendary Edition’s first update since the day one patch, Version 1.02 boasts a range of notable features. Xbox Series X players should especially be pleased to learn the wireless headset error has mostly been resolved. The graphical improvements across all platforms are nothing to scoff at, either. The visual changes, though minor, raise the question of whether the collection will continue to receive enhancements of this nature.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition gives fans and newcomers access to more than just prettier visuals and refined gameplay. The collection comes packed with nearly every piece of content from the trilogy. There are a couple of notable omissions, however; for one, Pinnacle Station isn’t included due to lost code. Mass Effect 3’s multiplayer didn’t make the cut either, but Project Director Mac Walters recently said popular demand could play a part in the mode’s potential return somewhere down the line.
