Absolute Carnage and The King in Black have played major roles in the symbiote takeover of Marvel comics, but one cosplayer’s remarkable take on Miles Morales’ Symbiote Spider-Man comes to life in an amazing new cosplay. Miles’ experience with symbiotes isn’t new given his history in the Ultimate Marvel comics, but his ability to overcome these alien foes takes form in this Absolute Carnage cosplay.

In the current run of Miles Morales: Spider-Man, Miles has suffered through much loss after the two recent arcs of The King in Black and The Clone Saga. As a fresh start, the young hero embarks on a new journey that sports both a new Spider-Man suit and a relationship with the granddaughter of Vulture, Starling. However, if it weren’t for Miles’ bravery in Absolute Carnage, heroes like Ms. Marvel, the Avengers, and the X-Men would be lost to Knull’s symbiote army. As part of Absolute Carnage’s three-part tie-in to Miles Morales: Spider-Man, Miles finds himself possessed by one of Cletus Kasady’s Carnage doppelgängers. After defeating the Carnage copy with his Venom Blast, Miles chooses to take on the symbiote form again but this time he has more control over his form. This selfless act of Miles reveals the key to solving the mystery of Knull’s weakness and defeating the symbiote army.

Content creator Khalid Brooks displayed his authentic Carnage Miles Morales cosplay on Twitter during New York Comic Con. As a true fan, Khalid revealed the comic book influences behind the cosplay to be the Absolute Carnage: Miles Morales #2 cover by artist Clayton Crain and the Absolute Carnage: Miles Morales #2 variant cover featuring Carnage Miles Morales vs. Venom Hulk by Giuseppe Camuncoli. The base of the cosplay features Miles’ original Spider-Man suit but with two extra sets of arms that resemble spider legs. On the face of the mask is the signature spiral mark cast by Knull on all symbiotes under his control and eye-boggling teeth that flow into a venomous smile.

The cosplay represents the second form Miles takes towards the end of Absolute Carnage: Miles Morales #3 after willingly bonding with the symbiote. The new form keeps Miles’ humanoid build with Carnage’s likeness, as opposed to his full monster symbiote takeover in Absolute Carnage: Miles Morales #2 and Dark Ages: Miles Morales. The bold-variant cover of Miles Morales: Spider-Man #21 by artist Inhyuk Lee is another example of Miles’ humanoid symbiote form as a Knullified Spider-Man.

Miles Morales’ symbiote form was revealed in Absolute Carnage but previous variant covers and fan art imagined what form a symbiote version of the fan-favorite hero could possibly take. Cosplayers have also designed their own versions of a symbiote Miles Morales. However, Khalid’s outstanding Symbiote Spider-Man cosplay design truly embodies the Absolute Carnage takeover of Miles Morales and further demonstrates the love the character continues to inspire in Marvel comics.
