Minecraft Build Remakes Iconic Demons Souls Locations

A new Minecraft build is recreating iconic locations from the recent Demon’s Souls remake, and its creator has just shown off the progress of this endeavor for the first time. Demon’s Souls received its stunning remake treatment from Bluepoint Games and was released as a PS5-exclusive launch title almost one year ago. It was regarded well for its faithfulness to the punishing source material and for its impressive new graphics.

Players have been building tributes to other games and intellectual properties in Minecraft since the beginning. It’s become one of the community’s most popular pastimes, with new fan-made reconstructions being posted all the time. Just recently, a fan built Big Ben from Civilization 6 in Minecraft. Community creations aren’t just about transplanting iconic buildings from other titles, though. Minecraft artists have made sculptures, murals and more of their other favorite properties, like the player who built sprite versions of all 89 fighters from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in Minecraft.

One builder going by Convoluted_Life on Reddit has also been hard at work in Minecraft lately: they’re recreating the Gates of Boletaria from Demon’s Souls. The Gates are the well-known first level of Demon’s Souls, and are prominently featured in the marketing campaign and on the box art for the Demon’s Souls remake. This Minecraft build uses the Conquest Reforged mod to enhance the realism of the Gates, bringing it closer to the remake’s version of Boletaria, which the build is based on.

Convoluted_Life says that this build is still a work in progress, and didn’t offer much detail other than that. Whether or not they plan to expand it out to complete the full level is unclear. At the moment, it looks like the main bridge and the two gates at each end are mostly done, but looking past the gate into Boletaria reveals that there’s no room for one of the memorable early bosses of Demon’s Souls – at least not yet.

This build is already off to an impressive start. It would be great to see all of Boletaria reconstructed in Minecraft, but that would be a massive undertaking for one person; enemy placement would be even more time-consuming. Hopefully, though, Convoluted_Life has big plans for this build. It’s still virtually impossible for most people to get their hands on a PlayStation 5 at this point in time, and for many, this might end up being the closest thing available to playing the Demon’s Souls remake outside of picking up the original PS3 version.
