A crafty Minecraft player recently showed off their incredible highway build, which spans over 10 kilometers and took them five years to create. 12 years on from its original release, Minecraft continues to remain a popular canvas for its fans’ creativity, in part thanks to its various game modes and sandbox gameplay that caters to different play styles.

One of the many reasons why Minecraft continues to surprise and delight its players is due to consistent updates from developer Mojang, with its most recent Caves & Cliffs Part 1 update bringing a large amount of fresh content, including new blocks, as well as new mobs such as the axolotl, glow squid, and mountain climbing goats. Caves & Cliffs will continue to introduce new content to Minecraft with the launch of the eagerly-anticipated second part of the update, Minecraft Caves & Cliffs Part 2, set to arrive on November 30. Its release is expected to expand on the additions of Part 1, with higher mountain peaks, more elaborate cave systems, and improvements to the game’s generation system for biomes.

After spending five years on the build, Reddit user mattycarl recently shared a video of their Minecraft highway to the game’s subreddit, offering a tour of their 10-kilometer-long highway and showing off the hard work and dedication that went into creating it. The highway, which has two lanes in each direction, features tall lamps along the road’s median strip, and extends over oceans and even through mountains, with special touches such as toll booths and pedestrian bridges added along the way. While much of the build highlights the varying Minecraft terrain, the clip also gives viewers a glimpse of the hard work of the server’s inhabitants, not only highlighting several villages, but also a spectacular city filled with tall buildings.

Mattycarl’s impressive Minecraft build has garnered a lot of attention on the game’s subreddit, amassing over 33,000 upvotes at the time of writing. Many Redditors commented on mattycarl’s video, sharing their amazement at the commitment the highway must have taken to construct. Others jokingly offered some suggestions, such as building the highway to a Nether Portal to create a highway to hell, or even connecting the start and end points to create a race track.

It seems that mattycarl’s years of hard work have definitely paid off, as they have ended up with a creation that’s both functional and beautiful. While they have certainly earned a well-deserved rest after completing such a feat, there will be new biomes for them to extend their highway through when Minecraft’s The Wild update launches sometime in 2022.
