MTG Arena Will Offer Players A Chance To Win Every Card in Standard

Wizards of the Coast announced MTG Arena’s launch weekend plans, and though they’re interesting in they’re own right, they’ll also lead into an event a week later called the Win Every Card Challenge that will reward victors with a single copy of every single Standard card in the game, including the upcoming Throne of Eldraine cards. MTG Arena has been around for a while now, but is actually still in an open beta, although not for much longer – the digital platform’s launch weekend happens over September 26-29 this month,

MTG Arena is still growing, but it has already achieved some pretty impressive feats, including hosting over a billion games played on the platform and transitioning into an esports program that continues to offer invested players the chance to win chunks of a $10 million prizepool. With Throne of Eldraine on the horizon and the platform’s first ever rotation occurring – where some cards will no longer be legal in Standard and a new format, Historic, will be introduced to make sure players’ cards don’t simply become useless – it’s a busy few months for Wizards of the Coast as major changes come to MTG Arena.

Some of those changes are bigger than others, however, and MTG Arena will celebrate its launch weekend with the Play Any Deck Challenge. That event will let players have access to 4 copies of every card in Standard to build a deck, letting them test new card synergies in preparation for the Win Every Card Challenge. That challenge will also let players build decks out of access to every card in Standard, but with a much bigger prize on the line – players who are able to win 12 matches before receiving 2 losses will be given a single copy of every single card in Standard. It’s the first time this kind of prize has been put on offer in MTG Arena and it will surely attract a ton of players looking to cash in.

Here’s a full breakdown of what the Win Every Card Challenge will reward players based on their number of wins:

Obviously, 12 wins before 2 losses is a huge ask – it’s almost the exact record required to consistently make the Top 8 of a Magic: The Gathering Grand Prix event in paper Magic, which awards much more significant prizing to players who are able to pull it off. With that said, it’s also free entry, and grants players access to all the cards they could want to build the deck of their dreams. It even lets players change decks between matches in case they see something new they want to try mid-attempt.

Naturally, this event won’t be for everyone, as it’s quite competitive. It doesn’t cost anything to try, though, and will do exactly what Wizards of the Coast wants it to by generating a ton of hype for the first few weeks of MTG Arena’s launch out of beta. It also bodes well for the future of the platform, which could host more events like this one to give players very tantalizing incentives for continued participation.
