My Hero Academia: 5 Characters Fans Want Bakugo To End Up With (& 5 That Are More Likely)
Bakugo might not be the most personable UA student, but he still has some suitors out there. Here are some that fans would love to see him with.

Love him or hate him, My Hero Academia’s Katsuki Bakugo is one of the most captivating characters in modern anime. He provides a great foil and rival to our protagonist Izuku Midoriya (aka Deku) and has a pretty complicated set of motivations himself. There are tons of characters that fans would ship with Bakugo and tons that would make sense in the context of the show’s plot.
Bakugo isn’t really an easy person to pair, but that hasn’t stopped fans from falling in love with his character. The show hasn’t explicitly delved into the romance surrounding Bakugo, but let’s weigh some of the fan picks against some of the most likely paths the show can take.
10 Fan Pick: Shoto Todoroki
Perhaps people only make this ship because both characters are considered some of the cutest by fans, but if Shoto was able to fully integrate his fire side and stop running from the anger he has inside, he’d be much more suitable for someone like Bakugo. That being said, Bakugo is already pretty flammable as he exists now, and Shoto fanning the flame might just push the two apart. That being said, someone who’s whole character is about balance like Shoto could do very well to cool Bakugo down.
9 Likely Pick: Izuku Midoriya
Deku and Bakugo have known each other from the very beginning, but that doesn’t exactly mean they’re the best of friends. Bakugo has always had a huge personality, and his relationship with Izuku has absolutely struggled as a result. But, since Deku and Bakugo have this nice rivalry going, they know how to push one another forward so that they can each grow into the future. There are only two ways this relationship could go. Love, brotherly or otherwise, or absolute hatred for one another.
8 Fan Pick: Ochako Uraraka
While it may seem like the constant teasing that Bakugo inflicts upon Ochako could just be a childish representation of Bakugo’s repressed feelings for her, that’s not likely the case here.
Ochako seems to be a common fan pick for Bakugo, perhaps as a result of their antagonistic relationship with one another. Unfortunately, their personalities truly aren’t likely to mix well, thanks mostly to Ochako’s unflinching compassion for people surrounding her.
7 Likely Pick: Eijiro Kirishima
Eijiro and Bakugo have been thick as thieves pretty much since they first met each other. To quote Eijiro talking about his pal Bakugo directly, “When I heard that they were after my buddy… I couldn’t do anything!! I didn’t do anything!! If I don’t act now… forget being a hero, I’m not even a man!”. Eijiro and Bakugo have one of the biggest bromances in the series, and there’s really not even a more likely ship that can be imagined.
6 Fan Pick: Tenya Iida
Tenya Iida and Bakugo couldn’t be more diametrically opposed in some ways, and too similar for comfort in others. Iida has some very important priorities when it comes to family, whereas all of Bakugo’s areas of improvement rely on his comparing himself to his peers in incredibly unhealthy ways. Iida does this too, but mostly in the context of his idealization of his brother. They didn’t get along whatsoever when they were paired together, and this is unlikely to change.
5 Likely Pick: Kyoka Jira
Early on, Kyoka and Bakugo really didn’t get along when they first met, but that doesn’t mean that they haven’t begun to build an appreciation for one another over time. Kyoka and Bakugo have frequently been shown to function very well either as a duo or as members of a team both able to pull their own weight in collaboration with each other.
Kyoka is also much more understanding of Bakugo’s outbursts than really anyone else. Perhaps if they end up working together more often, this mutual respect could blossom into true romantic feelings.
4 Fan Pick: Neito Monoma
Neito and Bakugo have pretty much constantly clashed ever since they met each other. There’s a really good reason for this though. He sees Bakugo without the rose-tinted glasses that many other people wear when viewing him, since he doesn’t have any close association to him like someone like Deku might, and he’s not willing to make excuses for him like many other characters (and fans) do. That being said, Bakugo completely surprised him with his determination, leaving Neito to contemplate newfound respect for Bakugo.
3 Likely Pick: Hanta Sero
Bakugo and Hanta have a pretty similar relationship to Bakugo and Neito, however, most of their arguments come from a place of gentle rivalry rather than out-and-out anger at one another.
Hanta and Bakugo frequently tease each other, but perhaps this one is actually an example of romantic feelings, more than any sort of harsh ones. In fact, Hanta and Bakugo have a great relationship, and perhaps in the future, that could be a deeper one.
2 Fan Pick: Minoru Mineta
While tons of people very much like Bakugo, there are just as many who find him to act like a spoiled child, constantly displaying a sense of entitlement and rage at the world he sees as having slighted him, specifically at Deku. As a result of this, Mineta makes sense as a ship for the sake of punishment. In fact, there are plenty of ways in which they’re similar, in that neither of them can control themselves.
1 Likely Pick: No One
Pontification and speculation about the romantic fates of characters who really don’t have their orientations spelled out for the viewer is always rocky territory, especially since a lot of these characters could be completely asexual. It seems like Bakugo has plenty of priorities aside from romance, priorities that are of more importance to society as well. Bakugo also hasn’t had the best history of friendships, which means that maybe, he has to take care of a few parts of his personality before even considering a romantic pursuit.
