The Professor is one of Netflix’s most exciting protagonists. Not only is he extremely intelligent, but his quirky personality makes him very exciting as a central ‘heist’ figure. Whether or not you agree with his tactics, it’s hard to ignore the influence he has over his peers and his ability to gracefully lure everyone into situations that are both extreme and exciting.
Despite being an introvert, he has been able to overtly execute two ambitious heists with the help of a group of people he assembled. He has not only secured their loyalty but their love and admiration. Even though he’s in love with the former Inspector Raquel Murillo, there are many characters who have shown that they will go to great lengths for The Professor.
10 Arturo
Arturo Roman is one of Money Heist’s antagonist. He is an arrogant and self-serving character and on the surface, he and The Professor could not be more different. After all, the professor is loved by many and Artur is despised by most. However, what they both share in common is their ability to draw in the crowd and influence the people around them. Both are master storytellers which leads people to not only to believe but also trust in them. Should Arturo have joined the team and ended up with The Professor, they would have made one hell of a team
9 Ángel Rubio
Throughout the show, Ángel and The Professor were positioned as competing forces. It can almost be said that Ángel and The Professor had a period where they were really obsessed with each other. Whether it was for Raquel’s attention or for leverage in the heist, the two worked constantly to undermine the other. This sort of exposure brought about a sense of vulnerability between the two, even considering that Ángel was the one who first uncovered who The Professor really was. In an alternate universe, had it been Ángel on the phone to the Professor and not Raquel, it is likely that the two would not have found it difficult to build a relationship instead.
8 Berlin
Despite initially trying to conceal their relationship, Berlin and The Professor are truly two peas in a pod. As we discovered in S3, ‘heist planning’ has been the brothers’ entire life. Not only were they raised together but planned and masterminded heists with each other’s help. They both also shared the common motivation of accomplishing their fathers’ dream of the heist which unites them unlike any other.
Even though we lost Berlin at the end of S2, there is no doubt that had Berlin lived, the two would have retired together in Berlin’s monastery and potentially planned heist number 3 together.
7 Palermo
Palermo is also an important part of The Professor’s life. Palermo and The Professor also share a long life bond primarily because of Berlin. In S3, it looked like they were all very close friends and together worked to devise dangerous heist plans. Had it not been for his love for Berlin, Palermo could have easily also fallen for The Professor. After all, he also gladly jumped on the possibility of a new heist after The Professors’ request which shows that he is just as devoted to The Professor as he was to Berlin.
6 Tatiana
Tatiana is a character that audiences have only had a few glimpses of. According to The Professor’s flashbacks, she was Berlin’s girlfriend and also part of the heist planning team. Many already predict that Tatiana has already appeared in S3 and is actually Alicia Sierra. If this were true, then Tatiana would have had to maintain a strong and close relationship with The Professor over the years suggesting more than a friendship. Fans will have to wait until the end of S4 to uncover Tatiana’s true identity and determine whether or not she and The Professor had a romantic history in the past.
5 Alicia
Just like his conversations with Raquel, The Professor’s conversations with Alicia Sierra were filled with games, taunts, and tensions. However, being a master manipulator herself, Alicia responds playfully to The Professor’s attempts and is even better at his game. This shows that in terms of intellect, that the Professor and Alicia are on the same level which not only affirms their compatibility but makes for a compelling match.
This is primarily one of the main reasons why audiences suspect Alicia is actually Tatiana as she seems to play along so well in the Professor’s game. S3 left Alicia with the upper hand in the game and only S4 will reveal to us if The Professor will take back his position as the primary player in this relationship.
4 Nairobi
Nairobi is also deeply loyal to The Professor. In fact, she may even have had feelings for him at some point. In S1 Episode 12 “ Cuestión de eficacia”, Nairobi flirts with The Professor stating that there is “tension” between them. Nairobi then goes on to tell him that he is the nicest man she’s ever met. The Professor who was obviously taken aback reminded her that relationships were not allowed within the heist but did say that she was very attractive and not to be offended. From this exchange, it is evident that Nairobi and The Professor are aware of each other’s presence and find each other attractive. This established relationship and fondness for each other still make it possible for the two to end up together.
3 Tokyo
Tokyo has shown nothing but love and devotion to The Professor. Throughout the seasons, we have come to know Tokyo as a headstrong character who is against rules and authorities. However, one person’s authority which she seems to always respect is The Professor’s. This is probably because he has saved her life countless times and always defended her.
Although they are polar opposites, what they do share in common is their drive to be part of something. Now that Tokyo is single and Raquel is presumed dead by The Professor, a much-deserved romantic relationship could form between the two.
2 Himself
From the beginning, The Professor was established as a genius loner. He had previously explained to Raquel in S1 that he was not the social type and liked to keep to himself. This meant that had it not been for the heist and his subsequent meeting with Raquel, he would have remained single. Even though having a relationship with Raquel went against his own rules, he admitted to being in love with her which shows that he has somewhat changed. However, the S3 cliffhanger challenged this and left us questioning The Professor’s future with Raquel or ultimately just with himself.
1 Anyone On The Heist Team
It’s already been established that The Professor has significant influence over members of the Heist team. This not only applies to the primary team but also to supporting members like Bogotá and Matias. There is no one who knows each member of the team like the Professor does. He was the one who carefully chose each member and curated each of their roles according to their strengths and weaknesses. The team members themselves have shown countless times that they would risk their own lives for the sake of the plan and the heist. Although there is money that everyone is expecting at the end of each heist, the team members still carry a sense of responsibility to help The Professor in any new plan or heist he may devise. As a result, anyone on the heist can still end up with The Professor as, throughout the seasons, they have all shared vulnerable moments with him one way or another.
