This weekend, Netflix is adding a new documentary series, the sequel to a Christmas romantic comedy, and a Christmas musical film starring a music legend. As the coronavirus pandemic continues, streaming services are still the go-to source of entertainment for many, as well as the solution for many studios with movies that couldn’t get a proper theatrical release. Luckily for Netflix subscribers, the streaming giant still has a long list of content to add for weeks to come, and with Christmas arriving soon, it has begun to add some of its exclusive Christmas content.
Last weekend, Netflix welcomed Fruitvale Station, V for Vendetta, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, Prom Night, and American Horror Story: 1984, along with the holiday rom-com TV series Dash & Lily, the Christmas musical Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey, the Italian drama The Life Ahead, and season 4 of The Crown. This weekend, the platform will add the drama movie Loving, the documentary Whose Streets?, and Robert Rodriguez’s action movie Machete Kills, along with the animated short-film If Anything Happens I Love You.
As for original content, Netflix will bring a new documentary series, the sequel to a Christmas rom-com starring Vanessa Hudgens, and a Christmas musical led by Dolly Parton. Here are the best movies and TV shows coming to Netflix this weekend – November 20.
We Are The Champions
The newest addition to Netflix’s catalogue of documentaries is We Are The Champions. This documentary series, executive produced by Rainn Wilson, explores the quirkiest, most charming, and oddly inspirational competitions you didn’t know existed. Each episode takes a look at a unique competition and the determined, passionate, and incredibly skilled competitors looking to become heroes in their own extraordinary worlds. Among the competitions you’ll find in We Are The Champions are Cheese Rolling, Fantasy Hair Styling, and Frog Jumping.
The Princess Switch: Switched Again
The Christmas content continues on Netflix, and this weekend will see the arrival of The Princess Switch: Switched Again, the sequel to The Princess Switch. Duchess Margaret (Vanessa Hudgens) unexpectedly inherits the throne to Montenaro, but her relationship with Kevin (Nick Sagar) isn’t going well. As her Christmas coronation approaches, Margaret switches places with Stacy (also Hudgens), Princess of Belgravia, so she can fix her relationship with Kevin. What none of them is counting on, is the arrival of Margaret’s wicked cousin Lady Fiona (Hudgens, once again), who wants to steal the throne.
Dolly Parton’s Christmas on the Square
This weekend’s Netflix Christmas content will also have its dose of music with Dolly Parton’s Christmas on the Square. This musical movie, directed and choreographed by Debbie Allen, follows a rich and pretentious woman called Regina Fuller (Christine Baranski) who returns to her small hometown after her father’s death to evict everyone and sell the land to a mall developer right before Christmas. However, after listening to stories of the local townsfolk, reconnecting with an old love, and accepting the guidance of an actual angel (Dolly Parton), Regina starts to have a change of heart. Dolly Parton’s Christmas on the Square features 14 original songs with music and lyrics by the legendary country musician.
