Nicolas Cage has starred in several movies over his career, and he has plenty of characters that could perfectly survive a zombie apocalypse.

Nicolas Cage turns 58 in January 2022 and over his career, he has appeared in just about every genre of movie imaginable. He has been in horror movies, action movies, superhero movies, B-grade straight-to-video efforts, and even some romances. Through every movie, Cage’s characters have stood out from just about everyone around him.

Cage often plays an unhinged character, one that is as far from normal as he can get. He often plays the outsider, someone who never fits in with those around him; which makes many of his characters perfect fits for surviving a zombie apocalypse.

Rob Fed, Pig (2021)

While he isn’t the toughest or deadliest Nicolas Cage character, Rob Fed from Pig has something that is needed to survive in a zombie apocalypse. Rob has moved into the wilderness and has become almost self-sustaining.

While he still has his contacts in the city, where he came from, Rob has become someone who not only lives away from the spots that would be feeding zones for zombies, but has set himself up with a nice home where he can stay in peace, at least until survivors arrive and ruin it for him.

Joe Ransom, Joe (2013)

Much like Rob, Joe Ransom is someone who lives outside of large metropolitan areas and knows how to take care of himself in a rural setting. He is mean, he is good with a gun, and he is willing to do whatever it takes to stay alive.

When a zombie apocalypse hits, Joe is someone who can disappear into the countryside and make due on his own, taking care of trespassers who threaten his safety, and likely set up the right traps to keep any walkers away from him.

Cameron Poe, Con Air (1997)

Every zombie apocalypse has a tough guy who is trained to kill, and that fits Cameron Poe perfectly. In Con Air, Cameron is a former Army Ranger sergeant and combat veteran who was sentenced to prison for killing a man who tried to assault a woman.

He proved that, even after years in prison, he was still able to protect himself and others when he took on an entire group of escaped convicts and did it effectively. Cameron could be similar to Abraham in The Walking Dead, and protect an entire group of survivors with his skills and training.

Castor Troy, Face/Off (1997)

Just like any zombie apocalypse has a military man there who can protect the people who trusts him, there are also plenty of bad men who survive thanks to their skills. Someone like Negan was able to take control of entire communities in The Walking Dead by being merciless.

That would be a perfect home to Castor Troy, the killer from the movie Face/Off. What makes Castor a great candidate to survive a zombie apocalypse is his willingness to do anything to stay alive, and his intense desire to remain in control.

Joe, Bangkok Dangerous (2008)

Bangkok Dangerous was an American remake of the Thai movie of the same name, and mirrored the original closely by bringing the same directors back for the remake. The one big change was putting Nicolas Cage in the lead role as freelance contract killer Joe.

Joe was methodical and precise in his hits, and he had a strict code of rules he lived by when on the job. His dedication and ruthless precision would make him an ideal survivor in the zombie apocalypse. He is someone who could get out of any trouble and deal with the evil humans that rise up in these pandemics.

Big Daddy, Kick Ass (2010)

Nicolas Cage took on a comic book role in 2010 in the movie Kick Ass, based on the comics by Mark Millar. In this movie, Cage was Big Daddy, who trained his daughter to be a vigilante, and the two worked as a cohesive unit until Kick Ass came into their lives.

While Big Daddy didn’t make it out of the movie alive, things would likely be different in a zombie apocalypse. If he was anything, Big Daddy was very protective of his daughter and his tendency to come up with big plans would play heavily in the two surviving the end of days.

The Janitor, Willy’s Wonderland (2021)

In Willy’s Wonderland, Cage was simply known as The Janitor and he overcame all sort of evil to come out of this horror movie alive. Clearly influenced by Five Nights at Freddy’s, The Janitor had to survive an attacking and murderous army of animatronics in the abandoned family fun center.

The movie is a dark comedy, with The Janitor simply wanting to do his job of cleaning up the center to pay for his car repairs; but ends up killing all the animatronics as he does so. With that calm personality, he would be perfect at hunting zombies in an apocalypse.

Hero, Prisoners Of The Ghostland (2021)

A lesser-known Nicolas Cage movie hit in 2021 was called Prisoners of the Ghostland. If there is any movie in Cage’s history with a character who proved he could survive in a zombie apocalypse, it is this one. The movie has his character, known as Hero, sent into a wasteland full of outcasts and nuclear irradiated survivors to rescue a girl.

Hero proves on the mission that he has the skills and survival instincts to survive in a nuclear wasteland, meaning that a zombie apocalypse should be no problem for him.

John Milton, Drive Angry (2011)

John Milton from Drive Angry would have no problem at all surviving a zombie apocalypse. That is because John has survived much worse than the dead rising and eating the living. John survived Hell.

In this Nicolas Cage horror movie, John was in Hell and actually escaped, after stealing Satan’s own gun, and returned to Earth to stop a cult leader from unleashing Hell on Earth. If John could escape Hell and kill demons, he would have no problems with zombies or evil human survivors.

Johnny Blaze, Ghost Rider (2007)

If there is one character that Nicolas Cage played in a movie that was most equipped to deal with a zombie apocalypse, it was Johnny Blaze. This is because the zombies would have no way of hurting this character because he was turned into the Ghost Rider by the demon Mephisto.

As Ghost Rider, Johnny would blaze a trail of destruction through any zombie hoard and would shatter the will of any human dumb enough to try to take him on in a play for power. While Ghost Rider did become a zombie in Marvel Zombies comics, that was no ordinary zombie apocalypse.
