In this 2007 rom-com, Catherine Zeta-Jones plays Kate, a high-strung chef at a trendy West Village restaurant in the heart of Manhattan. But after her sister dies in a car accident, she’s forced to take in her niece.
Noticing Kate’s performance issues, the restaurant owner hires a new sous chef to help out in the kitchen. But when Kate meets him (Aaron Eckhart), tensions soar and sparks fly. Dishes in the film include pancakes, fruit tartlets, chocolate mousse, steak, crème brûlée, and more.
9 Chef (2014)
After chef Carl Casper (Jon Favreau) gets fired from his trendy Brentwood restaurant for fighting with a food critic, he decides to open up his own food truck that specializes in Cuban food.

8 Simply Irresistible (1999)
After the death of her mother, Amanda (Sarah Michelle Gellar), inherits a restaurant in New York City. The only problem is that Amanda can’t cook. However, after meeting a mysterious man at a market who claims he was a dear friend of her late mother, Amanda’s cooking skills miraculously improve.
Before long, she’s making food so delicious that it almost seems otherworldly and magical. Simply Irresistible also starred Patricia Clarkson and Amanda Peet, who both did a phenomenal job in their comedic roles. Dishes include éclairs, blueberry cheesecake, seafood scampi, and more.
7 Eat Pray Love (2010)
Based on the bestselling book of the same name, Eat Pray Love follows Julia Roberts as Elizabeth Gilbert, a woman on a round-the-globe journey of self-discovery. The first section of her journey, “Eat,” takes her to Rome, where she has two goals: to learn Italian and to eat Italian.
Some of the most recognizable scenes in the entire movie take place in the Rome segment, as well as a scene where she travels to Naples for a slice of authentic pizza. It’s the perfect movie for anyone who loves travel and food. Dishes include spaghetti, Margherita pizza, gelato, and more.

In this LGBTQ+comedy, a playboy restaurant owner and a hardworking chef (who happen to be childhood friends) end up falling in love.

4 Julie And Julia (2009)
In 2002, Julie Powell began blogging about her experience of cooking all 524 recipes in Julia Child’s famous cookbook, The Art of French Cooking. The film adaption flashes between Julie’s adventure cooking in her tiny New York City apartment and Julia Child’s life in Paris during the 50s while attending the famous cooking academy, Le Cordon Bleu.
The movie’s plot was drawn from both Powell’s memoir Julie & Julia, and Julia Child’s memoir, My Life in France. Dishes include French onion soup, roast duck, artichoke with hollandaise sauce, bruschetta, and more.
3 Burnt (2015)
Burnt showed a more realistic view of the life of chefs, which is all too often filled with betrayal, desperation, drugs and alcohol. In the film, Bradley Cooper is a chef who once had a famous Parisian restaurant, but lost everything because of his addiction. Now, he’s determined to get back in the game and open the best restaurant in the world.
Aside from Cooper, the movie starred tons of big names, like Emma Thompson, Uma Thurman, and Sienna Miller. Dishes in the film include Anjou pigeon, roast lamb, blood orange mascarpone, and more.
2 The Hundred-Foot Journey (2014)
Sparks fly in the South of France when an Indian family decides to open a restaurant directly across the street from the world-renowned, Michelin-starred eatery, Le Saule Pleureur.
The restaurant’s owner and chef (played by Helen Mirren) begins a battle with the Indian family for food superiority, but they soon learn that mixing the flavors of the East and the West could provide the best results of all. Dishes include tandoori chicken, omelette aux fines herbes, madeleines, paneer, and more.
1 Ratatouille (2007)
In this Disney/Pixar classic, a downtrodden restaurant employee meets a rat who loves to cook and eat. Together, they’re able to create some of the best dishes in all of Paris. The film’s name, Ratatouille, is actually the name of a common French dish, which is a thick stew made from vegetables like eggplant, tomato, and zucchini.
Before the film, the dish was actually considered comfort food, made mostly by moms at home. But demand for the dish has skyrocketed since the movie’s release, and it now has tons of variations and can be found in five-star restaurants. Besides ratatouille, other dishes in the film include potato and leek soup, and poached scallops.
