No Time To Die The 8 Most Badass Characters

Spoiler warning: This list includes detailed plot points from No Time to Die.

The final chapter of Daniel Craig’s stint as James Bond, No Time to Die, is in the books and it was quite the ride. From an emotional conclusion to a twisty plot that wrapped up all four prior Craig movies, it delivered in spades. Of course, in traditional Bond fashion, it also included a slew of characters who were total badasses.

Some spent the majority of the movie beating people up, others were completely ruthless in their actions, and some managed to steal the show in just a few short scenes. Regardless, they were all just the kind of badasses who make these films work.

8 Ernst Blofeld

Like a lot of Bond villains, Ernst Blofeld (Christoph Waltz) is someone who isn’t exactly going to be the toughest guy in the room or the best fighter. Instead, he manages to come across as something of a badass due to the way that he always feels like the smartest person around.

In No Time to Die, Blofeld is mostly limited to just one scene. It’s an engaging one as, despite his dire situation and his face-off against the man who put him behind bars, Blofeld never loses his cool. He calmly feels like he’s one step ahead of Bond even though he shouldn’t be, which is born from the confidence of a badass person.

7 Logan Ash

As soon as Logan Ash (Billy Magnussen) appeared on screen, he seemed too good to be true. The CIA agent working alongside Felix Leiter had a huge grin spread across his face almost every time he was around, which only made it more obvious that Ash was ultimately a double agent working for the main antagonist, Safin.

Ash was a really good secondary villain who managed to hold his own in hand-to-hand combat against Bond when his cover was blown. He had a bit of help winning out but he still did pretty well all things considered. Alas, he came across as pretty cowardly when he was staring death in the face just before Bond dropped a car on him.

6 Felix Leiter

You get the sense that James Bond doesn’t have a ton of people he can truly consider his friends, evidenced by his longstanding trust issues. However, one of those few friends is Felix Leiter (Jeffrey Wright) and he’s the first person to really get in touch with Bond after his five years of retirement in Jamacia.

Like several other characters in this film, Leiter didn’t get a ton of time to showcase his skills but audiences know that he can handle himself. When it was revealed that Logan Ash was working for Safin, Leiter went after him with Bond but it led to him getting shot. With him and Bond sinking, Leiter understood that he was dying and accepted it, which is a tough thing to do, before telling Bond to go on without him.

5 Lyutsifer Safin

Lyutsifer Safin (Rami Malek) is one of those Bond villains who seems more calculated than anything else but he was given a huge scene to showcase just how cold he is. The film’s opening takes place years in the past where Safin, wearing a mask, infiltrated the home of a young Madeleine and her mother, looking for revenge against her father.

Safin held nothing back as he gunned down the mother and then stalked Madeleine as if this were a horror film. Later, he stood up to Bond and went as far as to threaten his daughter to get what he wants. In the end, Safin may not have been able to beat Bond physically but he did poison him, leading to his death.

4 Madeleine Swann

For the most part, Madeleine Swann (Léa Seydoux) bucks the trend of typical Bond girls as she hung around for multiple movies and their love even led to an entire family. Madeleine is, in many ways, perfect for Bond because she has proven herself to possibly be just as tough as he is. All one has to do is just look at the opening scene.

When Madeleine was just a child, she stood up to Safin, even surprising the audience by shooting him several times as he invaded her room. When she’s held captive later on, she found a way to beat down and take out the guard holding her despite being tied up. Those are two scenes that hammered home how much of a badass she is.

3 Paloma

Many fans were surprised to learn that Paloma (Ana de Armas) wasn’t going to be a major player in this film as she was a big part of the promotional material. Although she only appeared in a single scene, it was arguably the best of the movie and it could be said that she stole the show.

Paloma seemed nervous at the start and said she had only been training for a few weeks but as soon as the action started, she was a formidable partner for Bond. She and Bond fired away shots at everyone threatening theme and despite being in high heels, Paloma managed to fly around and kick several people. A spin-off centered around her would be welcome.

2 Nomi

When this film was announced, a lot of the talk was about how there would be a new 007 agent. That would be Nomi (Lashana Lynch) and though it was a huge change from what audiences had come to know about the franchise, Nomi quickly proved herself to be more than worthy of the legendary designation.

She was able to verbally spar with James Bond upon meeting him and constantly went back and forth with him. Out in the field, she was a tough match for him as they went after the scientist and then they worked expertly together during the film’s final act. She showcased her bravery at every turn.

1 James Bond

It’s fitting that the biggest badass in a James Bond movie is James Bond (Craig) himself. There’s always a neverending sense of cool whenever Bond does something and that trend continued here. For example, while fighting alongside Paloma, he took a moment to sip a martini and then jump right back into things.

From his very first scene, Bond displays his toughness. He fought his way out of Italy despite being heavily outnumbered, battled foes at every turn, and made the ultimate sacrifice in the end. Bond stayed behind to ensure the missile strike would be successful and took his death in stride, knowing that he had done enough to save the world.
