ABC’s Once Upon A Time had great characters, but some were total hits with fans. These are the top fan favorite characters in Once Upon A Time.

Ever so often, a group of writers come together in a room and create something magical. For ABC, they assembled the perfect core to construct what we believe to be one of the greatest stories ever told on TV. Once Upon A Time was brilliant. The storyline was outstanding but it was the characters that were a stroke of genius.
Loaded heavily with fairytale characters we grew up with, who would’ve thought our childhood could come to life and be portrayed as adults and not miss a beat? Here are the top 10 fan-favorite characters from Once Upon A Time.
10 Prince Charming
The character men are judged by. Prince Charming was to fairytales what the Ken doll was to Barbie. In Once Upon A Time, the bond that he and Snow White shared was as strong as ever but that doesn’t mean they didn’t have their ups and downs. Charming wasn’t groomed to be the Prince he was.
He’s a protector, husband, father, and friend. Strong in battle but just as strong in will and morals. Charming put his life on the line to save Storybrooke and others countless times. All he wanted was to find his happy ending with his family and was willing to risk it all to make sure it happened.
9 Henry
The kid with the wild imagination grew into the one chosen to save the world. Henry always felt something wasn’t right with his world. Learning he was adopted, he wanted to find his real parents. When he found Emma, he wasn’t about to let her drive off in a world she didn’t know the truth about. Henry wanted to get to know his mom. And in doing so, he learned more than he expected.
Henry took risks just to prove a point that often put himself and others in danger. His goal was for everyone to stop the in-fighting and work together. He was often caught in the middle of fights between Emma and Regina when all he wanted to do was help both his moms get along and find their happy endings.
8 Belle
The woman handed over to Rumpelstiltskin by her family turned out to be a central character in Once Upon A Time. If it wasn’t for Belle, there’s no telling the amount of damage Rumple would have done to everyone. Her caring persona singlehandedly saved thousands but at times it just wasn’t enough.
An avid reader, Belle wanted to learn about everything. Despite his imperfections and hideous looks, she actually loved Rumple. All Belle wanted was the truth and being robbed of that for so long, she finally had enough and took her fate in her own hands.
7 Snow White
Snow White was a bad ass. In the fairytales, we were led to believe she was all glitz and happy go lucky. When in fact, Snow White was dangerous. If pushed, she was ready to fight anyone. She robbed and gave it to her people but her heart was so pure that she often forgot danger was staring her in the face. Her step-sister turned enemy then friend, Regina (aka The Evil Witch) had one plan. And that was to kill Snow White. But Snow just couldn’t bring herself to kill The Evil Witch.
In Storybrooke, she was a teacher, single at the time with no memory of her life with Prince Charming. Thanks to her grandson Henry, that all changed. She gained a husband and then her daughter (Emma) came to town.
6 Zelena
Regina wanted revenge against Snow White when she was the Evil Queen. However, Zelena, she wanted revenge for just about everything else. Regina got all the attention, and for that, Zelana just grew to be ultra jealous. Formerly known as the Wicked Witch of the West, Zelena bestowed havoc on anyone and everything.
Her attempt to destroy her sisters’ place in Storybrooke was well planned but she expected more of a fight from Regina. Instead, she elected to hurt Regina another way and that’s through the heart with Robin.
5 Peter Pan
This is the one character many were not expecting. Our childhood taught us that Peter Pan was the envy of most kids who never grew up and could fly. We would soon learn that it was more than meets the eye with his special character. This version of Peter Pan was not to be portrayed on the small screen as we remember.
The Pan we witnessed on Once Upon A Time was bad. Not just bad, he was downright evil. Never Never Land was not a place where kids went to have fun, it was a secluded jail of sorts. Once you’re there, you’re basically stuck. Then the plot twist hit when we learned that Pan was Rumple’s father.
4 Hook
Hook was supposed to be evil, right? In the beginning, he was a wise-cracking pirate who thought of only himself, or so we were led to believe. Hook’s character was nothing like the one from Peter Pan we grew up reading. Although he did take Rumple’s wife, in his defense, he did love her. Not forgetting to mention, his bond and admiration for Rumple’s son Neal.
But when he caught sight of Emma, he was immediately drawn in. He changed his pirate ways and joined the good team. Now considered good, Hook still had an ax to grind with Rumple. No matter how you look at it, Rumple still killed the woman he loved and cut off his hand. Some scars never heal.
3 Rumple
No matter what name he goes by on this list, Rumple is still a favorite. Once Upon A Time had plenty of villains but Rumple was by far the best. Regina was evil but after a while, she even realized that it wasn’t worth it. As for Rumple, he wanted all the power. His one weakness was Belle. In his mind, lying to her meant protecting her from harm, but he did it so many times, she just gave up trying to understand his reasoning.
He manipulated his way to power and kept a tight hold over Storybrooke. He wasn’t all selfish and did a lot of his damage as a way of hiding his pain from the past. He did have a son (Neil) who died but learned that Henry was his grandson.
2 Emma
The girl who would grow to be the one able to bring order to the Storybrooke chaos. She was the daughter of Prince Charming and Snow White but had been orphaned since birth. She didn’t know who she was. Emma had no idea she was royalty and more so, a part of fairytales she read in school.
While perceived as the hero in Once Upon A Time, it took Emma a while for her to come to terms with who she was and what was expected of her. With the knowledge that she has a child, Emma’s mission was to fulfill her destiny while keeping her son safe. Throughout the show, Emma went through as many changes as Rumple. Good then bad and back to good. From the Savior to the Dark One and back to the Savior.
1 Regina
The Evil Witch whose plan was to do whatever evil she could, managed to turn her life around. In the early stages, her main goal was to bring harm to Snow White. It didn’t matter if Snow was just a kid, Regina wanted her to feel pain. Now saddled with a child of her own, she’s been fighting the good and evil side within herself just for the sake of Henry.
Regina found love, lost it and ventured back over to the dark side she fought until she finally embraced the role of goodness. Regina turned out to be the only one to bring all the kingdoms together. Her enemies became her friends then her friends became her family.
