Outriders Trickster Class Tips & Tricks

With a robust sci-fi apocalyptic theme, the Outriders demo was very well received thanks to its slick story, visuals and gameplay. Now players are diving in to look at the game’s many classes and pick their main.

No matter which class is chosen, fights and missions will feel unique and fun to take on. One of these classes is maybe one of the most fun to play with, the Trickster. Since Outriders is not fully fleshed out yet and tons of people are pre-ordering copies, here are some Trickster tips, tricks and strategies.

Trickster Playstyle

Outriders Trickster Class Tips & Tricks

Tricksters are classified as close-ranged combatants with high mobility and hit and run tactics. The assassins of the Outriders universe, Tricksters use their abilities to bend space and time to appear out of thin air in the blink of an eye. They can deal huge amounts of damage and then quickly get to safety more or less unscathed.

They are probably one of the more complicated classes to play but leave behind them a path of annihilation when done right. If a player wants to play as something a little challenging that can instantly get in and out of danger, the Trickster is a good fit. They don’t have a lot in terms of AOE damage and instead focus most of their attacks on singular targets, warping in and out before the enemies can retaliate.

Melee Skill

Outriders Trickster Class Tips & Tricks

The Trickster melee skill is great for hunting down a target or escaping to safety. It deals a decent amount of damage and afflicts targets with Slow within a small area of effect, making it so that all actions of the target a slowed. Melee skills do not take up a Trickster’s skill slots, nor do they require class points.

The Trickster’s melee skill has an even greater impact when sprinting, which changes into a ground slam. This has a larger AOE than the regular melee skill at the cost of a higher cooldown. It is perfect for Tricksters to use when they are about to be surrounded or to set up kills on groups of enemies. However, each subsequent use of the ground slam further increases its cooldown. Unlike many other classes, the Trickster does not suffer as much from this drawback as their ability to get in and out of battle, enabling them to get to safe spaces quickly to refresh skill cooldowns.

How to Heal

Outriders Trickster Class Tips & Tricks

The Trickster’s playstyle makes it easy to get hurt during battle, so you’ll want to play aggressively to deal damage and kill targets so you’ll restore health. For the Trickster, their passive healing ability only applies to enemies in close range.

Use skills to jump into the thickest parts of battle to perform some easy assassinations. Some Trickster abilities can kill more than one enemy at a time, but be mindful of timing. These warpers of space and time rely heavily on their abilities for kills and combos. Tricksters also get shields for kills at close range on top of healing, protecting the recovered health while they finish off the rest of their enemies.

Core Powers

Outriders Trickster Class Tips & Tricks

Tricksters focus their skills on space and time powers that revolve around are Damage, Movement, Deception and Interrupt. Damage skills help quickly eliminate enemies before they can retaliate, while Movement skills help the Trickster find openings or a means of escape. Deception skills are the Trickster’s primary means of inflicting Slow and setting up multiple kills in a row. Interrupt powers help cancel incoming attacks or abilities, which is especially useful for tougher enemies.

Some skills make use of more than one of these Core Powers like the Trickster’s Cyclone Slice, a useful skill that combines Damage and Interrupt powers to take out a small area of enemies. Other skills like Slow trap only use one power, Deception, to create a space-time anomaly that slows enemies and their projectiles.

Trickster’s Class Points

Acquired by leveling up, Players can alter the Tricksters’ playstyle through a unique skill tree. While you cannot earn enough points to fill out the skill tree, it is possible to complete one of the three main branches that add up to a sub-class. These subclasses include Master of Space, Harbinger, and Assassin. You can reset class points at any time.

These sub-classes affect the Trickster’s damage dealing and survivability. Masters of Space focus primarily on adding to the Trickster’s movement, granting bonuses for moving and boosting damage with close-quarters weapons such as shotguns. Harbinger adds to the Trickster’s defense – increasing their chances of surviving encounters with shield bonuses and damage mitigation. Assassins focus on their skill damage outputs, hoping to burst targets into oblivion with their powers.
