A hilarious Peacemaker costume worn by a child for Halloween has surfaced online. In the DCEU, the character is portrayed by wrestler-turned-actor John Cena and made his debut in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad this summer. Following that debut, he is poised to continue his DCEU adventures with HBO Max’s Peacemaker show set to debut in 2022.

John Cena made his first appearance as Peacemaker in the DCEU when The Suicide Squad premiered in August 2021. A sociopathic killer who murders innocents in the name of patriotism, Peacemaker is recruited to the Task Force X A-team who slips into Corto Maltese under the cover of night to take down “Project Starfish.” However, as the film progresses, Peacemaker’s comically absurd patriotism slowly gives way to reveal his nefarious mission to destroy evidence of America’s involvement in the capture and development of Starro as a weapon. This eventually leads to a showdown against Bloodsport (Idris Elba) in which Peacemaker is finally taken down via a bullet to the neck.

With The Suicide Squad’s release now in the rearview, fans who saw the film have begun creating their own versions of the characters’ costumes. In fact, one dad recently took to Reddit under the username /Antiatk to show off the Peacemaker costume worn by his child for Halloween festivities, including the character’s ridiculous helmet. The future looks bright for the Peacemaker character, even beyond his appearance in The Suicide Squad and awesome costumes like the one seen above. In fact, as the post-credits scene from The Suicide Squad already sets up, the character will soon spin off into his very own HBO Max series. Peacemaker will follow up on the events of The Suicide Squad as the titular anti-hero recovers from the wounds sustained at the hands of Bloodsport and is sent off on a new mission alongside Adrian Chase aka Vigilante (Freddie Stroma).

At this point, it seems reasonable to assume that Peacemaker Halloween costumes may become more common in Halloweens to come. The character proved immensely popular in The Suicide Squad and there is a great deal of excitement for the upcoming series. DC has long been known for villains who often arguably outshine the heroes, so like Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), fans may see Peacemaker become one of the DCEU’s most popular characters very soon. Peacemaker will premiere on the Warner-owned streaming service on January 13, 2022, so fans will just have to wait and see if even more Peacemaker costumes hit the streets for trick or treating next year.
