Peter Weber recently shared his thoughts on the Bachelor in Paradise season 7 finale and why he didn’t accept the invite to go on the season. The Bachelor and Bachelorette alum opened up about his relationship with Joe and Serena as well as with other Bachelor Nation couples. While some fans were rooting for a different romantic outcome for Joe, Peter seems to be in support of the happy new couple.

Peter first appeared on ABC’s The Bachelorette season 15 and was later cast as The Bachelor season 24. Peter had a rough time on both The Bachelor, experiencing several brief and tumultuous relationships with contestants Kelley Flanagan, Hannah Ann Sluss, and Madison Prewett. Joe and Serena met on Bachelor in Paradise, and after meeting, the two quickly fell for each other. On the Bachelor in Paradise season 7 finale, Joe proposed to Serena. The happy couple’s relationship was quickly put to the test when Joe’s ex Kendall Long appeared, but Joe maintained that his heart was set on Serena.

Peter shared with Us Weekly that he is happy for Joe and Serena, as well as for the other newly engaged Bachelor in Paradise couple Riley Christian and Maurissa Gunn. Peter believes that there are “some solid relationships” that have come from the show, and adds that he thinks they can “go the distance.” Peter revealed that he sent Joe a text to congratulate him on the engagement once the news became public, and said that he truly wasn’t aware of the engagement until it was officially announced. He also shared that he had seen Riley at the Governor’s Ball Music Festival prior to the finale and let him know that he was “pulling for” the couple, adding that he feels happy to see Maurissa get the opportunity to “show her personality.”

Peter additionally revealed that he was asked to appear on this season of Bachelor in Paradise, and although he was considering it, he ultimately had to turn down the opportunity when he discovered the show would be filming at the same time as he would have to be attending classes for United Airlines. When asked how he felt about Joe’s ex appearing on the Bachelor in Paradise finale, Peter shared that the appearance felt uncomfortably familiar, saying “it brought me back to my finale when I got like this huge bombshell…” Peter continued, saying “You go through this whole season, you deal with so much stuff and at the end you kind of just hope that like, alright, it’s just gonna end on like a high note and no other distractions, no drama, and then when she came it immediately brought me back.” Peter added that he didn’t care for the surprise, saying “I hate they did that to him because like that shouldn’t have been about her.” Despite what Peter believes was unnecessary drama stirred up by producers, he believes that Joe and Serena handled the situation very well.

Despite having many tales of heartbreak to tell after his time on The Bachelor, Peter seems to be in very good spirits and is maintaining a positive outlook for the future. While some people may have found themselves disappointed that Peter turned down an additional opportunity to find love on Bachelor in Paradise for season 7, including alum Wells Adams, Peter seems to be content with the direction his life is going. For the time being, it seems that Peter remains focused on catching flights rather than feelings.
