Pokémon All Confirmed Returning Legendaries In The Crown Tundra

Updates hinting at the new content being released in Pokémon Sword and Shields’s DLC The Crown Tundra have revealed that Legendary Pokémon from previous generations will again return for players to catch. The release has fans of the games excited, as the original story had very little in the way of legendary Pokémon to catch, making the end-game content feel empty once the Wild Area had been thoroughly explored and most Gigantamax Pokémon were caught. Which Pokémon can players expect to see when the DLC drops on October 22nd?

Currently the catch method appears to be included in the new Dynamax Adventures, where players team up to more deeply explore the dens scattered throughout Pokémon’s Crown Tundra map. It is unclear how rare the Legendary encounters will be, or how much time players will need to spend in the dens to potentially locate them, but this new exploration method for Legendary hunting is sure to be refreshing. In the past, methods have ranged from random encounters to multi-dimensional portals in post game, which has always made the hunt to find these mythical beasts an adventure.

It also appears that some of these Legendary Pokémon may roam the overworld as encounters in the Wild Area. Fans are unsure if these Legendary Pokémon will appear as sprites in the overworld post-game, or if there will be a series of events the player must work through, like in previous games, to enable the spawning of these roaming Pokémon. While players have been given many teasers for what is coming in the Crown Tundra DLC, most of the details have been withheld for fans to see when the content releases in a few weeks. Here is a list of the confirmed returning Legendary Pokémon available, according to content releases so far.

All Legendary Pokémon Added To Sword & Shield

Beyond the return of the older Legendary Pokémon from previous generations, there will also be new Legendary Pokémon added that are Galar Region specific. This includes Galar versions of Moltres, Zapdos and Articuno, as well as a new Galarian look for Slowking. There will also be several new Pokémon added, though at this time there is little known about them outside of two being related to the Legendary Regi collection and one being entirely new to the games. This has brought the Galar region’s Legendary count up to a potential seven. It is unclear if other Legendary Pokémon will have the chance for a Galarian make-over, but it would be amazing to see a few old favorites sporting the newest region’s design and flavor.

Whether it is new or old, fresh looks or classic designs, Legendary Pokémon have provided fans with the wild post-game challenge of catching them all. With the release of every Legendary from prior games, players will now have even more to do when Pokémon Sword and Shield’s Crown Tundra releases near the end of this month. It will be the perfect adventure for a chilly afternoon as players suite up and head out into the snow to catch their favorite classic Legendary to add to their team.
