Pokémon BDSP Update Which Glitches Were Fixed In Version 112

Players have been finding countless glitches in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl since its release, but developer ILCA is trying to handle the problem with patches, the most recent of which is Version 1.1.2. Pokémon BDSP are Nintendo Switch remakes of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl for the Nintendo DS, and the first mainline Pokémon games to be made by a developer other than Game Freak. They released on November 19, yet two weeks after their release the games have already seen three patches.

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl’s first patch, Version 1.1.0, released a little over a week before the games’ launch. This “day one patch” for Pokémon BDSP likely released early to allow game reviewers the chance to play using the same patch consumers would have access to when they got their own copies of the game. Version 1.1.1 also released before Pokémon BDSP hit shelves, optimizing the contents of the previous patch.

The Version 1.1.2 patch released December 1. The official patch notes according to Nintendo Customer Support said that patch “fixed some issues that would prevent the game from progressing under certain circumstances” and that “some issues have also been fixed for more pleasant gameplay.” Unlike the specific patch notes listed for the Version 1.1.0 patch, the Version 1.1.2 patch is incredibly vague. Still, players have confirmed that the menu glitch and duplicating glitch in Pokémon BDSP are no longer possible after performing the update. Players can still take advantage of these major glitches if they don’t update their games; however, the game must be updated to make use of online functionality. Some players have really enjoyed the exploits that these glitches made possible, including incredibly fast speedruns of the games, so anyone who wants to keep those options available will have to do so at the expense of online play.

More Glitches Removed In Pokémon BDSP Ver. 1.1.2

The two biggest glitches removed in the Pokémon BDSP Ver. 1.1.2 patch are the menu glitch and the duplication glitch. The menu glitch allows players to skip most of Pokémon BDSP by opening the main menu in places where it shouldn’t normally be able to be opened, such as during a battle. The duplication glitch allows players to duplicate Pokémon and their held items, which can be used to obtain many copies of rare Pokémon and items. But other minor glitches have been removed in the recent Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl patch.

Players have reported getting stuck behind NPCs in places such as Veilstone City and between the large snowballs in the Snowpoint City Gym. These potentially softlocking glitches have reportedly been fixed in the patch. Another minor, but less dangerous, glitch that is said to have been fixed is the ability to skip most of the Snowpoint City Gym. This was caused by taking advantage of the new diagonal movement on the platform where Candice is in Pokémon BDSP’s Snowpoint City Gym. Although some players may have enjoyed making use of the menu glitch and duplication glitch, it’s great that these smaller glitches have been patched out so players can’t accidentally get stuck or softlocked.
