There are 17 Arceus Plates for trainers to collect in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. They have the power to give Arceus a type.

Trainers will need to find every Arceus Plate in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl to prepare for an upcoming event. When players explore the region, they may come across special ‘Plate’ items. When the player picks them up in the overworld, each one will read a quote about a legendary Pokémon. These are all tied to Arceus, the Pokémon that is known to be the God of Pokémon. In the original Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, Arceus has locked away on the cartridge and couldn’t be accessed without cheat codes. Arceus is an event Pokémon, meaning that the Pokémon Company typically releases content for players to download at a later date. That never happened with Diamond and Pearl so there was never a way to get Arceus legitimately in those games.

There are 16 Arceus Plates in total, each one corresponding with a Pokémon type. While Arceus isn’t currently available in Pokémon BDSP, it is likely it will be added in a future event. If Arceus is given one of these Plates as a Held Item, it will transform its typing. For example, if Arceus is given the Insect Plate, it will transform into a Bug-type. Arceus will also have its color slightly changed.

Fortunately, Pokémon Diamond and Pearl allows players to obtain multiple types of Arceus Plates. There are specific locations in the Sinnoh region where players can find them, or players can get lucky and find them while exploring the Grand Underground. Trainers should aim to collect them all before Arceus is officially released, and handful of these Arceus Plates can only be accessed in the postgame.

• Draco Plate: Transforms Arceus into a Dragon-type and can be found behind the Eterna Statue.
• Dread Plate: Transforms Arceus into a Dark-type and can be found in the Lost Tower.
• Earth Plate: Transforms Arceus into a Ground-type and can be found at Oreburgh Gate.
• Fist Plate: Transforms Arceus into a Fighting-type and can be found on Route 215.
• Flame Plate: Transforms Arceus into a Fire-type and can be found on Stark Mountain.
• Icicle Plate: Transforms Arceus into an Ice-type and can be found on Route 217.
• Insect Plate: Transforms Arceus into a Bug-type and can be found in the Old Chateau.
• Iron Plate: Transforms Arceus into a Steel-type and can be found in Iron Mountain.
• Meadow Plate: Transforms Arceus into a Grass-type Pokémon and can be found on Route 210.
• Mind Plate: Transforms Arceus into a Psychic-type and can be found in Solaceon Ruins.
• Sky Plate: Transforms Arceus into a Flying-type and can be found at the bottom of the waterfall at the Pokémon League.
• Splash Plate: Transforms Arceus into a Water-type and can be found on Route 219.
• Spooky Plate: Transforms Arceus into a Ghost-type Pokémon and can be found in Amity Square.
• Stone Plate: Transforms Arceus into a Rock-type and can be found in Mt. Coronet. Players will need to climb a waterfall to reach it.
• Toxic Plate: Transforms Arceus into a Poison-type and can be found in the Great Marsh in Area 2.
• Zap Plate: Transforms Arceus into an Electric-type and can be found in Sunyshore Lighthouse.

There is another plate with the Pixie Plate, which can only be found when exploring in the Grand Underground. All Arceus Plates have a chance to make an appearance when mining within the walls, so it’s common for players to have multiple Plates. Trainers can also give the plates to Pokémon of the same typing to give them a boost in damage. It’s unknown when Arceus will be added to the game, but hopefully, it will be around the same time as Pokémon Home adding Pokémon BDSP support.
