For each new Pokémon generation, there is always some new mechanic that makes it unique. One feature that was introduced in Generation IV and is also in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl is the Capsule Decoration. If the trainer has a Ball Capsule, they can place various stickers on it and then attach the Ball Capsule to any Poké Ball.
These stickers cause dazzling visual effects when the Poké Ball is opened. Because the special effects from stickers only appear for a second when the Pokémon is released in battle, there are some stickers that work better than others.
Spark Sticker B
After the player defeats the Electric-type Gym Leader Volkner at the Sunyshore Gym, one of the stickers he will give the player as an award is the “Spark Sticker B” item. When a Pokémon is released into battle from a Poké Ball with this on it, the sticker causes a streak of lighting that moves outward from where it was placed on the Poké Ball.
Since this item creates an effect that moves outward, it is more noticeable compared to other electricity-inspired stickers that just flash in one place or disappear quickly, which is why it is one of the most impressionable visual effects from Volkner’s Ball Capsules. Besides beating Volkner’s Gym, the player can only get this sticker by randomly receiving it from a massage in Veilstone City, one of Pokémon BDSP’s best towns in the Sinnoh region.
Flora Sticker B
Once the player defeats Gym Leader Gardenia’s Grass-type Pokémon at the Eterna Gym, one of the awards will be the “Flora Sticker B” sticker, which releases a swirl of pink flower petals when used. Unlike the “Spark Sticker B” sticker that gives a “Coolness” boost for Super Contests, this sticker gives a “Beauty” boost in Super Contests, so it’s best to use it in the Beauty category.
Although “Flora Sticker D” releases a swirl of purple petals and “Flora Sticker F” releases a small tornado of yellow petals, these stickers are not as eye-catching as the pink petals. If players want more of this item, they can get it from the producer at the Jubilife TV Station (one of the best locations to visit in Pokémon BDSP), the Sunyshore Market on Wednesdays, and a girl NPC in Pastoria City.
Cool Sticker C
If the player is using an Ice-type Pokémon or just wants a little winter aesthetic, then the “Cool Sticker C” is perfect because it causes a flurry of large snowflakes. These snowflakes actually remain visible for a couple of seconds, which makes them more long-lasting than some other stickers. Despite the name, this sticker actually boosts the “Beauty” in Super Contests since the “Cool” refers to the temperature.
The player can get this sticker by defeating the Ice-type Gym Leader Candice at the Snowpoint Gym, who will give the item as one of her awards for beating her. Besides that, the player can also get it from the Producer at the Jubilife TV Station and the Flower Shop in Floaroma Town.
Song Sticker A
Although “Song Sticker A” is only the first of several types of musical stickers, it is still the best because it lasts the longest and leaves the strongest impression. While the other Song Stickers are musical notes, “Song Sticker A” is a giant golden treble clef that dances on a flowing golden musical staff.
Early in the game, the player gains this sticker after defeating the Water-type Gym Leader named Crasher Wake at the Pastoria Gym, and the sticker gives a boost in “Cleverness.” They can also get this sticker from the Producer and from Sunyshore Market on Mondays.
Ribbon Sticker C
When the Fighting-type Gym Leader Maylene sends out her Pokémon, her stickers are mostly a combination of various golds and silvers. But, one sticker stands out among the rest, which is the “Ribbon Sticker C” sticker that the player also gets from her after defeating her at the Veilstone Gym.
This sticker causes a swirl of red ribbons that draw in the eye, and Maylene’s gold stickers act as a perfect backdrop for the vibrant red. Players can also get this sticker by talking to the Producer and visiting the Sunyshore Market on Mondays.
Ethereal Sticker A
Another great sticker that the player obtains after defeating Gardenia is the “Ethereal Sticker A” sticker, which releases a pink swirl of light. This type of sticker gives a “Cuteness” boost, and it can also be gotten from the Producer and the Flower Shop in Floaroma Town.
“Ethereal Sticker A” is a perfect sticker to use as a background to help other stickers pop out. For example, Lucian, who is the Psychic-type member of the Sinnoh Elite Four, uses this sticker to help emphasize the lightning effect of his “Electricity Sticker D” stickers.
Burning Sticker C
Even if the player isn’t a fan of Fire-type Pokémon, the “Burning Sticker C” sticker is still a great addition to a Ball Capsule because it causes a powerful flame to circle around the Pokémon, which looks cool regardless of which Pokémon is being used. Unsurprisingly, this type of sticker gives a “Coolness” boost.
To get this sticker, the player will need to defeat Palmer, who is the leader of the Battle Tower and the father of the player’s rival canonically named Barry, in Battle Tower Master Class, or by randomly getting it after a massage in Veilstone City. Flint, the Fire-type member of the Elite Four, uses this sticker.
Star Sticker F
While the Ghost-type Gym Leader Fantina uses many different stickers, the one that stands out the most is the “Star Sticker F” one, which causes large color-changing stars to fall from the sky. This sticker is so effective that the Bug-type Sinnoh Elite Four member Aaron also uses it.
After the player beats Fantina at the Hearthome Gym, they get this sticker as one of their awards. They can also obtain this by talking to the Producer in the Jubilife TV Station or by going to the Sunyshore Market on Friday.
Stone Sticker B
Although it may not initially look like much, the “Stone Sticker B” sticker is one of the best stickers to put on a Ball Capsule in the game because it releases a fast meteorite that leaves a bright blue trail behind it, which looks amazing and goes well with any other sticker. This sticker gives a “Toughness” boost.
Once the player defeats the Steel-type Gym Leader Byron at the Canalave Gym, they will get this sticker as one of the awards. Players can also obtain it by talking to the Jubilife TV Station Producer, visiting the Flower Shop in Floaroma Town, and defeating Byron in Gym Rematches. Besides Byron, the Ground-type Elite Four member Bertha and the Sinnoh Champion Cynthia also use this sticker.
Champion Sticker
Literally named the “Champion Sticker,” it is not surprising that this item literally stands above the rest of the stickers. This sticker is only given to the player when they are acknowledged by the Sinnoh Champion, who is Cynthia.
In order to get fully acknowledged by Cynthia, however, the player has to beat her three times. This is somewhat intimidating as Cynthia has a level 88 Garchomp in her party during the final rematch. This struggle is worth it because the Champion Sticker is literally the most flashy, colorful, and powerful sticker in the game. It’s so visually powerful that the player doesn’t really need any other stickers if they have this one.
