Honey Trees make a return in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl. As players explore the Sinnoh region, they will soon discover brown trees that players can apply Honey on. Players will unlock access to Honey once they reach Floaroma Town. In Floaroma Town, an NPC will then give the player Honey in Floaroma Meadows. The Honey players receive can later be slathered on trees to find rarer Pokémon around the region. Players will also face off against the redesigned Team Galactic in the Valley Windworks to progress further.
Honey is a consumable item that can be placed on these brown trees. Within the Sinnoh region, there are 21 Honey Trees for players to slather Honey on, and these trees stick out when compared to the rest of the environment. The reason players will want to do this is because of the possible spawns that can appear as only a handful of Pokémon can be obtained using the Honey Tree method.
Once BDSP players place the Honey on the brown trees, they will need to wait six hours in real-world time for Pokémon to begin to appear. From the six-hour mark to 24 hours, a Pokémon has the chance of appearing. Players will then need to return to the Honey Tree to catch rarer Pokémon. If the tree is shaking, a Pokémon will emerge once the player interacts with it. It’s important to mention that players cannot go into their Nintendo Switch settings and change the time to make it go faster. This isn’t like time traveling in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, as the game has a penalty that will prevent the time skip from happening.
Pokémon BDSP: Honey Tree Guide
Honey Tree Pokémon are broken up into three different categories. There are Normal encounters, Rare encounters, and Very rare encounters. There is also a chance for no encounter to happen as well. These are the Pokémon that will appear for each section:
Honey Tree Normal Encounter Spawns in Pokémon BDSP
Normal encounters by using the Honey Tree method will happen 70% of the time.
- Wurmple (40 percent)
- Silcoon (20 percent) Exclusive to Brilliant Diamond.
- Cascoon (20 percent) Exclusive to Shining Pearl.
- Combee (20 percent)
- Burmy (10 percent)
- Cherubi (five percent)
- Aipom (five percent)
Honey Tree Rare Encounter Spawns in Pokémon BDSP
Rare encounters by using the Honey Tree method will happen 20% of the time.
- Combee (40 percent)
- Burmy (20 percent)
- Cherubi (20 percent)
- Aipom (10 percent)
- Heracross (five percent)
- Wurmple (five percent)
The Rare encounters section is reserved for just one Pokémon. There is only a one percent chance of this happening, but a Munchlax will appear as a result. Alternatively, players can find Munchlax in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl within the game’s Underground. The best thing to do would be to set alarms for when six hours would pass. Then, check in and see what encounter might appear.
