Pokémon Legends Arceus Teaser Hints At A Hisuian Zorua

A new regional variant coming in Pokémon Legends: Arceus has seemingly been teased in a cryptic trailer, and fans have deduced that it is most likely Hisuian Zorua. In this new teaser, clues were given describing a mysterious new Pokémon, but no images of it were actually shown. However, there appears to have been enough information given for fans to identify that the most likely candidate is Zorua.

Following the trend of recent titles, Pokémon Legends: Arceus will be introducing new regional variants and evolutions for existing Pokémon. To this point, Growlithe and Braviary have been revealed to have Hisuian forms while Stantler, Basculin, and Scyther have all been confirmed to be receiving new Hisuian evolutions thanks to Wyrdeer, Basculegion, and Kleavor respectively. In a pretty creepy teaser trailer, the mysterious new Hisuian form was described with a clear set of clues regarding its appearance – and because internet detectives are really good, fans have determined that this mystery Pokémon is most likely Zorua.

In the Pokémon Legends: Arceus teaser trailer, viewers see the perspective of someone exploring a snow-covered location in the Hisui region. The man in the video is looking to document wild Pokémon when he discovers some Snorunt roaming an area he deems to have a “mysterious air” to it. He then sees an adorable Pokémon he initially thinks could be a Growlithe or Vulpix, but then describes it as having a swaying red-tipped tail and round yellow eyes with fluffy white fur on top of its head and around its neck. Given this description, many fans have come to a consensus that this mystery Pokémon best fits the description of the tricky fox, Zorua.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus’ Hisuian Zorua is Almost Certainly an Ice/Fire-Type

The physical description provided in the Pokémon Legends: Arceus teaser matches that of Zorua pretty accurately and Twitter user sextant0yulij has already drawn a concept of what this variant may look like. It’s unlikely that a Hisuian Zorua would lose the Pokémon’s signature Illusion ability, but it is possible that the typing of this form can already be deduced. This creature’s presence in a snow-covered region makes it almost guaranteed to be an Ice-type Pokémon while its red coloring and comparisons to Growlithe and Vulpix appear to be a pretty clear indication that it’s also a Fire-type. This would make Hisuian Zorua an Ice/Fire-type Pokémon with the Illusion ability, which could be a fairly formidable offensive threat if it evolves into a Hisuian Zoroark of the same type.

Leading up to Pokémon Sword & Shield, Galarian Ponyta was slowly teased over the course of an extended livestream as players guessed which Pokémon it was and this method is being done once again here. Whether this new Pokémon is in fact Hisuian Zorua or something else, it’s a fun and engaging way to reveal a new Pokémon that gets the community involved. Pokémon Legends: Arceus appears to be rounding into its final form a few months ahead of its launch date and in all likelihood, the internet detectives are once again correct and Hisuian Zorua will be a part of that.
