Pokémon Sword & Shield Datamine Reveals [SPOILER] Will Return In The Crown Tundra

SPOILER WARNING – The information below is unconfirmed as of the time of writing, but it could spoil new content planned for The Crown Tundra DLC in Pokémon Sword & Shield, so proceed with caution.

The latest update for Pokémon Sword & Shield has been datamined and new information about The Crown Tundra DLC has been revealed, including the return of characters who were cut from the base version of the game. The Crown Tundra is the upcoming second expansion for Pokémon Sword & Shield, but it doesn’t have a set release date outside of fall 2020.

The Crown Tundra DLC is based on Scotland and it will feature a snowy region that is filled with Legendary Pokémon. The player will join an expedition team led by a man named Peony, as they explore the Pokémon Dens (used for Max Raid Battles in Pokémon Sword & Shield) in order to encounter more Pokémon. There is a lot we don’t know about The Crown Tundra, but it has been confirmed to feature Galarian versions of the Legendary Birds of Kanto and two new Regi Pokémon.

The Isle of Armor expansion for Pokémon Sword & Shield is now live and people have already been sifting through its files in order to find hidden secrets. Game Freak has shown its usual lack of care for scrubbing spoiler content from its games, as a Twitter user named @SciresM has uncovered new information about The Crown Tundra. It has been discovered that The Crown Tundra will be broken into chapters, one of which will be focused around the Ultra Beasts from Pokémon Sun & Moon. he Ultra Beasts are a group of incredibly powerful Pokémon from another dimension. The Ultra Beasts debuted in the Alola region, but none of them were brought back when the National Dex was cut for Pokémon Sword & Shield.

It has also been revealed that Regigigas will return, as it has an in-game area where it’s meant to be encountered. There are chapters that are tied to the Swords of Justice (Keldeo, Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion), the new Regis, and the Galarian Legendary Birds. The chapter/missions are called “A Legendary Tree for a Legendary Three” (for the Galarian Legendary Birds), “They Came from the Ultra Beyond” (for the Ultra Beasts), “The Sacred Bonds of Sovereign and Steed” (for the Swords of Justice), and “The Terrible Titans… Lurking Locked Away” (for the new Regi Pokémon.)

The focus of The Crown Tundra DLC seems to be about bringing back the Legendary and Mythical Pokémon that didn’t appear in Pokémon Sword & Shield, so it makes sense for the story to be focused around those types of Pokémon. The Ultra Beasts were a major part of Pokémon Sun & Moon and it seems they are destined to be just as important in the Galar region.
