The Pokémon Unite Season 1 end date and time has been revealed for November. The Pokémon MOBA game launched for Nintendo Switch in July and was released on mobile platforms later in September 22, and the first half of the inaugural ranked season ended the same day crossplay went live between the two platforms. Now, the end of Pokémon Unite Season 1’s second half is fast approaching.

Similar to other MOBAs, Pokémon Unite is free-to-play with microtransactions. Players can either purchase in-game currency with real money or grind unlocks through gameplay to unlock new playable Pokémon, purchase held items, and customize trainer avatars. Aeos Tickets, one of Pokémon Unite’s main in-game currencies, are especially valuable, as they can buy Item Enhancers, which are used to upgrade items to boost Pokémon stats during battle. With each new level reached, the number of Item Enhancers required to enhance a held item increases, which means more Aeos Tickets are consistently needed. In addition to earning them through play, real money can be spent to obtain Aeos Gems, which can then be turned into Aeos Tickets.

The Pokémon Unite Twitter account has announced Season 1 will end at 4:59 PM PDT/7:59 PM EDT on November 7. Just as it did in the summer, Pokémon Unite promises Aeos Tickets as an end-of-season reward. The number of Aeos Tickets each player can get will be based on their rank at the end of Season 1, so developer TiMi encourages players to achieve the highest rank they can before the season comes to a close.

The first ranked season is coming to an end on 11/7 at 4:59pm PT! Once the season ends, you’ll receive a number of Aeos Tickets as a reward based on your rank. Be sure to get the highest rank you can before the season ends! #PokemonUNITE pic.twitter.com/whai9n3ILJ

The offer of Pokémon Unite Aeos Tickets is appealing and may encourage dedicated players to grind their way up to higher Season 1 ranks for a greater payout. However, ascending ranks can be difficult to do without spending actual money. Battles can become one-sided thanks to Item Enhancers, so those willing to shell out cash for Aeos Gems sometimes have an in-game advantage. This has been called pay-to-win by frustrated players, and an official Pokémon Unite survey acknowledged pay-to-win accusations, showing that TiMi is aware of the advantage paying players have.

With Pokémon Unite’s Season 1 coming to an end, there’s hope for an improved Season 2. The fact that developer TiMi has directly addressed the game’s focus on in-game microtransactions in the aforementioned survey could be a good sign in the long-run. If enough player feedback echoes those concerns, Pokémon Unite could one day tone down the microtransactions and end-of-season Aeos Ticket rank grinding pressure could be lessened slightly.
