The final season of Power aired in early 2020, and since then there has been a lot of time to digest what actually happened in that last episode. It was more of a movie than a TV episode, with months of building up to the whodunnit of Ghost’s death, and many twists and turns along the way.

The finale divided opinion amongst Power fans, however, there are lots of things that can be agreed by everyone, here are just some of the things we learned from the last ever episode of Power.

10 Tariq Is Trash

After 6 seasons of the hit Starz series debating whether or not Tariq was one of the good guys, the finale of Power definitely answers this question. Riq shows little remorse when he’s putting a bullet in his father, but by that point anyway Riq isn’t even viewing him as his father, but more as Ghost. Tariq is now on Ghost/Tommy’s level of cold killer, drug dealer, and on the run criminal, who even stood by in the end whilst his own mother got sent to jail for a crime he committed.

9 The Tommy Spin-Off Is Needed

Tommy is thought of by many as the best character in all of Power, so it was a cause for celebration when his episode didn’t end with him dying. Tommy packed his bags for California, but judging by the way he left New York, it doesn’t seem like he’s moving to California for a quiet life. It will be great to see a series where Tommy can carry on being himself and tearing up the streets on the west coast.

8 Tasha Never Gets A Happy Ending

Tasha has been through it all in the 6 seasons of Power, with her drug-dealing, money laundering husband having an affair with the federal agent that happened to be investigating his crimes.

Tasha also lost her daughter Raina in season 3, before falling in love again with Terry Silver (killed by Ghost) and then having to shoot her best friend Keisha in the head in season 6. Tasha finishes the finale with more misery when she takes the rap for Tariq’s killing of Ghost.

7 Ghost Is A Savage

James St. Patrick has never really been one to show remorse, even when it comes to family. After finding out Tasha had started her own drug dealing business and was laundering money through her daycare group, he deems this an inappropriate setting for his kids to be brought up in, and decides he will try and take custody of Tariq and Yaz once he gets the position of lieutenant governor.

6 The Prequel Will Be Different

In an end credits scene we see Ghost, Kanan, and Angela at high school together. We know already that lots went on in the world of Power before the series even began, and 50 Cent is always going to want to stay involved in the series in some way or another. A prequel featuring the main characters, albeit a younger version of them, would be a fresh take on the series and provide a backstory that isn’t told in Power, this would likely be aired on the Starz streaming service.

5 Raina Is More Relevant Than You Think

Back in season 4 when Raina was shot dead due to her brother Tariq’s inability to handle a situation, her death was somewhat pushed under the carpet to make space for bigger storylines in the series… understandable, considering Raina was never a prominent character anyway. However, in the finale, Tasha and Ghost visit Raina’s gravestone, which is almost a testimony to the fact that her death was the main catalyst for all this chaos.

The main spin-off show coming out of the finale is Power Book II: Ghost. The series will reportedly take place two days after the death of Ghost and focus heavily on the female characters in the series. The series will also feature a new character, Monet, who will be played by Mary J. Blige.

3 Q Was Too Smart For The St. Patrick’s Games

Tasha’s love interest, Q, took up most of her emotional attention in the final season and things were starting to look like she might have actually found someone good.

Once Ghost was killed however, Tasha went into protective mother mode and tried to frame Q for the murder of her ex-lover to protect Tariq. Q was way too smart to be done like this, he’d already had his suspicions about Tasha so made sure he was seen ion CCTV outside a shop to provide him with an alibi on the night of the murder.

2 Rashad Tate Does Not Need A Spinoff

One of the spinoffs announced in the final proceedings of the Power finale was Power Book IV: Influence which seemed to allude to a series focusing on the councilman. With other spinoffs likely to be happening at the exact same time on-screen, it seems pretty pointless for there to be another series going on which will crossover into the other spinoffs.

1 It’s Not Always The One You Don’t Expect

After months of speculation over who killed Ghost, in the end, it turned out to be a pretty understandable conclusion to the whodunnit saga. There were times where Ghost’s new lover Ramona was odds on favorite to be the culprit, but on reflection, there was only one person that could have pulled the trigger in all of this, and Tariq was the perfect candidate.
