Since the second episode of Psych, Shawn Spencer and Juliet O’Hara were destined to be together. It was so obvious from their flirty chemistry. And while they are endgame, some fans may have been rooting for Shawn and some other love interests.
Shawn did have more than his fair share of girlfriends through the series, and it’s definitely believable that some of them may have made more sense for him than Juliet. And that’s not even including the bromances. Revisit the show’s 10 pairings ahead of its next movie.
10 Katarina McCallum
Before he even laid eyes on her, Shawn was head over heels for Katarina. Their paths crossed for the first (and last) time in the pilot as Shawn investigated the disappearance of her brother. He admired her beauty, depth of character, and kayaking skills.
Their flirting took off and even led to something. But, it turns out, when you accuse your new paramour of murder, it may not bode well for the rest of the relationship. While the true culprit ended up being her father Camden, Katarina didn’t take kindly to Shawn’s wild accusation.
9 Sally Reynolds
Sally, sweet Sally. Shawn cozied up to the insurance agent, who was an innocent victim of Carlton Lassiter’s Civil War reenactment. In the end, she wasn’t as innocent as she appeared to be, but that didn’t stop Shawn from shooting his shot (even though she was the one who shot the episode’s casualty).
Shawn and Sally did have undeniable chemistry and a bit of a fling. Maybe they could have gone the way of Lassiter and his wife, Marlowe—reunite after a stint in prison, that is.
8 Lindsay Leikin
In season two, Shawn met his match in the form of fellow psychic Lindsay Leikin. Could she also have been a long-term romantic match? They got flirty right away, despite her relationship status. She called him out for being a fake, but he kept the compliments coming.
There was no doubt they had chemistry. While she was behind the episode’s money laundering scheme in the end, every Psych fan knows that Shawn can’t resist a villain. They could have gone the distance, or at the very least made for an interesting plot line.
7 Gina Repach
Gina was the only other stop-and-start relationship Shawn had besides Juliet, technically. That’s saying something. She appeared in two episodes and hilariously got on his nerves by talking about herself in the third person.
She could have kept viewers guessing as an on-again, off-again girlfriend. She did have a habit of popping back up at unexpected times. Sure, Gina was a weirdo, but the same could easily be said of Shawn.
6 Sophie Morris Bridgewell
The assistant curator in season two’s supernatural finale, Sophie caught Shawn’s eye right away. One could even guess she was interested in Shawn before meeting him; she specifically requested the “paleo-sleuth” based on his photo in the museum.
There’s no denying this was a cute pair. They even had a date at Red Robin planned that viewers never got to see. They had more potential than most of the guest flames, that’s for sure.
5 April MacArthur
The beautiful aquarium employee April was such a catch that she had both Shawn and Gus vying for her attention. Shawn and April were mutually interested in each other, but April picked up on Juliet’s crush. She politely declined Shawn’s advances and stepped out of the way.
This is definitely a case of an alternative endgame for Shawn; if Juliet hadn’t made her feelings clear, Shawn could have been with April instead. With someone that adorable, who knows how far it could have gone?
4 All The Bromances
Pierre Despereaux. Marion “Mary” Lightly. Curt Smith from Tears for Fears. The list of Shawn’s bromances can go on and on. He was unashamed to show his affection for the bros in his life. When they got together, hilarity inevitably ensued.
Maybe, in the end, Shawn should have thrown his dating life to the wind and embarked on a riotous adventure with some of his friend crushes. The audience would have thanked him.
3 Joy Guster
Gus’ sister Joy only appeared in one holiday special, but she made her mark. Joy and Shawn had a history and, when she arrived back in Santa Barbara, they tried to restart their relationship. Of course, Gus would never approve, so it didn’t work out.
But think of the possibilities. It would have been so fitting to see Shawn become an official member of the Guster clan if he and Joy had worked out.
2 Burton Guster
Their friendship transcends both bromances and romantic relationships. Shawn and Gus are on another level entirely, hence why Gus gets his own entry. It would take an entire article to sum up their beautiful bond.

Throughout the show, Shawn and Gus both had rollercoaster romantic lives. Imagine if they’d left it all behind, threw themselves into the Psych agency, and focused on their friendly banter. The show could have gone on for years.
1 Abigail Lytar
Even fans of “Shules” have to agree, Abigail was the best partner for Shawn. Their romance may have fizzled in high school, but they rekindled their relationship at the class reunion. She had a biting wit that was possibly even superior to Shawn’s. She was goodnatured and worldly.
Not only was she Shawn’s best match, she also guest starred in some of the series’ strongest arcs. While the audience was sad to see her go, they’ll always have six of the show’s best episodes thanks to their relationship.
