Real Housewives Why The Women Shouldn’t Flaunt Their Wealth On TV

Bravo lovers who watch the Real Housewives shows are starting to wonder if the women have bragged a bit too much about their closets that are packed with designer clothes. When news of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Dorit Kemsley being robbed broke, many viewers were upset. Half the fun of the franchise is getting a glimpse at the women’s riches, but there are fans who think that the flaunting of wealth should be toned down.

The Real Housewives franchise has been popular since The Real Housewives of Orange County hit small screens in 2006. The various shows take place in multiple cities and allow fans to enjoy sneak peeks into the fascinating lives of women who married rich or achieved their own success, or both. While the over-the-top fights unfold onscreen, the women are usually dressed in high fashion and dripping with jewels. The typical Housewives viewer doesn’t live an opulent life and likes seeing how very wealthy people live. For years, Bravo and Real Housewives viewers have been enchanted by the reality star’s mansions and massive closets. The series continues to expand, adding even more all-out luxury in each and every season.

A recent turn of events has some fans thinking that it may not be so glamorous to live behind the gate. This week, Dorit revealed the horrifying news that she had been robbed at her own home. Burglars stole her designer clothes and handbags while she pleaded for her life. Sadly, this is not a one-time event, as Kyle Richards was also the target of a home invasion. Viewers can’t help but wonder if flaunting a $95,000 Birkin Bag, or claiming to pay full retail at Louis Vuitton, inspired thieves to case their homes and plan out crimes.

It could be argued that half the premise of the show is that the housewives brag about their diamonds and other upscale items to entertain viewers. Lisa Rinna revealed that she had designer gowns in her garage. When that episode aired, Andy Cohen immediately messaged her, telling her that she should move them. The fear is real, as bad people have proven that they will strike while the iron is hot. Currently, popular social media influencers are thinking twice before posting information about how much each item in a Housewife’s closet is worth. After this newest incident, it is possible that some franchise stars will scale back by being cagier about showing off their ritzy belongings.

It is fair to say that whether a person is a Housewife or a pauper, they don’t deserve to be held at gunpoint while they are inside of their own home. The confrontation-laden Real Housewives franchise has had a lot to contend with over the years, including missed IRS payments and jail sentences. The fact that the Housewives are now being targeted by criminals who know the value of what they own is a major cause for concern. It may even change the way that the show is filmed.
