Leon S. Kennedy, the beloved hero from the Resident Evil series, will be making his way into Rainbow Six Siege. The tactical first-person shooter was released way back in 2015, but its success has led to continued support from developer Ubisoft. In fact, Rainbow Six Siege beat its record of most concurrent Steam users in March 2021, proving that the game is more popular than ever despite being more than five years old.

Rainbow Six Siege has had many crossover events since its 2015 launch, though the majority of these crossovers have been with Ubisoft’s fellow Tom Clancy-branded titles such as Splinter Cell. However, in February 2021 the realistic shooter announced a number of crossovers with much more fantastical franchises such as Rick & Morty and Resident Evil. While the survival horror franchise’s undead hordes don’t quite gel with Rainbow Six Siege’s grounded counter-terrorism themes, the Resident Evil series does feature many firearms and pieces of tactical gear. The crossover between the two franchises resulted in a new outfit for Zofia, a playable Siege Operator, which mimics the iconic STARS police uniform used by Resident Evil hero Jill Valentine.

Publisher Ubisoft has revealed a new collaboration between Rainbow Six Siege and Resident Evil, which will allow players to breach walls and engage the enemy while dressed as Leon S. Kennedy. The third season of Siege’s Year Six, titled Crystal Guard, will introduce a new Operator for players to utilize. Osa, a military engineer who wields a large bulletproof shield, will be released as a powerful new attacker. Meanwhile, Leon S. Kennedy will be introduced as a new Elite skin for the intel-gathering Operator Lion.

Along with Osa and Leon Kennedy, Rainbow Six Siege’s new Crystal Guard season will include a number of new features. The Bank, Coastline, and Clubhouse maps have been completely rebuilt with new balancing, lighting, sound, and environmental destruction. Customization is being enhanced, with players able to combine Operators’ various outfits and pieces of headgear. An armor rework, and balancing changes for several Operators, will also create a wholly new experience for players.

As one of the Resident Evil franchise’s most popular characters, it is no surprise that Leon has made crossover appearances in a variety of different games. A crossover between Resident Evil and Dead by Daylight launched back in May 2021, creating a perfect combination of the two survival horror titles. The game’s Resident Evil update added Leon Kennedy and Jill Valentine as playable survivors, while also introducing the relentless Nemesis as a playable killer.

While Resident Evil’s undead monstrosities are unfit for Rainbow Six Siege, the horror series’ heroes have demonstrated great proficiency with a variety of weapons. In this way, Leon S. Kennedy fits right into the tactical first-person shooter, with his iconic outfit making a perfect substitute for Lion’s usual gear. While the skin does not include Leon’s beloved blonde hair, the Rainbow Six Siege crossover still captures the horrific spirit of Resident Evil.
