Game Freak may have accidentally revealed all the returning Pokémon that will be introduced in the second Pokémon Sword & Shield expansion The Crown Tundra when it releases later in the year. The eighth generation of Pokémon games, the two titles first released in 2019 for the Nintendo Switch. This meant they were the first entries in the franchise to release on a home console rather than portable hardware. Unlike their predecessors, Pokémon Sword & Shield are set in a land known as Galar that is heavily influenced by the United Kingdom.

The Crown Tundra is set to be the second piece of DLC for Pokémon Sword & Shield. Set in a region inspired by Scotland, the expansion will take players to a more wintry environment. The story will focus on an expedition started by a man known as Peony as he travels to the Pokémon Dens to try and discover new creatures that have not yet been seen by the player. Like the recent Isle of Armor expansion, it will introduce new creatures and bring back some old favorites. Unfortunately, there is little other information about the DLC and no announced release date.

Daily eSports reports that Twitter user abcboy101 has discovered what might be an extensive list of all the Pokémon set to return in Pokémon Sword & Shield when The Crown Tundra launches later this year. According to the data, Game Freak left out Pokédex entries for some 119 creatures, suggesting that these are the Pokemon the studio is planning on bringing back to the series. Some of the missing entries have already been shown in pre-release material such as trailers, while the number of Pokemon is similar to the selections included in Isle of Armor.

So GF has basically confirmed the Pokémon they plan to add in The Crown Tundra with the dex entries they left out (+/- Mewtwo, Mew, Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion, which are already available but not with dex entries) https://t.co/NyhNVG8VPq pic.twitter.com/Nbv27LnBql

Some of the Pokémon that the Twitter post claims will be coming are Nidoking, Dragonite, and Aerodactyl. There are also legendaries such as Ho-oh and Luiga in addition to the Generation 1 legendary birds, although these are likely to be new Galarian forms rather than their traditional appearances that players will be familiar with. This is the same approach that Game Freak took with the Isle of Armor when it released last week and so is likely to be what happens in the next expansion.

Although Pokémon Sword & Shield proved controversial when it first launched, the announcement of expansion packs was well received by players. It is the only time that a main Pokémon game has included DLC and is a welcome change. Especially when many felt that the Nintendo Switch titles lacked many of the features and Pokémon that fans had expected. Allowing players to once again play with some of their favorites will no doubt be a popular move.
