RHOBH Alum Kim Richards TellAll Book Back On Track For Release

A canceled memoir written by The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum, Kim Richards, is back on, according to the book’s publisher. And its October 15 release date will, ironically enough, coincide with the first day of BravoCon.

Kim’s sisters, Kyle Richards and Kathy Hilton, may have breathed a sigh of relief when their sister’s book – The Whole Truth: The Reality of It All’ – was canceled in 2020, due to a host of delays and disputes. And while Kim got to keep the $300,000 advance for the tell-all memoir that was shelved, Dey Street Books, which is a division of HarperCollins, has now decided it will publish Kim’s tome. The book teases that the former child actress and RHOBH star, will open up and share her truth.

RealityBlurb reported that Kim’s sisters were unaware she was writing a book. “I mean, she started saying she was working on, you know, something, and I didn’t really – I don’t really know a lot about it. All I know is we’re in a good place, so hopefully, we’re going to stay there,” said Kyle, in 2020. Two weeks prior to the announcement of the book’s upcoming release, rumors were flying that Kim was on the verge of a possible relapse because she was slurring words and had trouble walking. Subsequent to the rumors, Kyle said her sister’s actions were due to months of quarantine. In a release from the publisher’s parent company, HarperCollins, the book details Kim’s experience being the “whipping post as a sister.” The release went into deeper detail about the book. “The soul-bearing confession of a woman revealing what it was like to be treated like a show pony as a child star, as a disposable object as a wife, a whipping post as a sister, and as a tabloid commodity as a celebrity. But above all else, it is a triumphant tale of a determined woman who refused to be broker – a fierce, loving and relatable human who is strong, flawed, and real.”

Kim’s first draft of her autobiography was finished on the first day of the freshman introduction of BravoCon, in 2019. It was slated to be available for purchase in April 2020. In addition to exploring her many-faceted life, readers would learn about her life as a child actress and Bravo housewife experience, and how she felt being her sister’s “whipping post.”

As a first-time cast member in the first year of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, viewers learned Kim’s life was complex. She had a severe substance abuse problem that she tried to keep hidden. And her new book will let her put it all out there in a stripped-down fashion. Perhaps her new book and the explosive items expected to pour out from its pages will be just the sunlight Kim needs to start her holistic journey to better mental health.
