RHONY Bravo Cancels Season 13 Reunion & Cast Voices Frustration

After record-low ratings and poor fan reception, Bravo has officially canceled The Real Housewives of New York City season 13 reunion, much to the ladies’ disappointment. Previously delayed for an indefinite amount of time, the cancelation of a potentially unfavorable RHONY reunion is exactly what should have been expected following the lackluster season.

Overseeing the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 election and cast changes, RHONY season 13 barely stayed afloat on some choppy waters. Despite both the global pandemic and heightened racial tensions offering a dramatic stage for RHONY, there was notably not a lot of plot. Many fans took to social media weekly to share their frustrations with how the season was unfolding. Viewership dropped to a franchise low, and many wondered if the show would ever recover. Due to both scheduling conflicts and tension amongst the cast, filming for the reunion was delayed, adding more fuel to the fan speculation. Eventually, the RHONY reunion got the green light, though no official filming date was ever set.

Now Bravo has made it official that the RHONY reunion has been canceled. Understandably, it has left many cast members with a sour taste in their mouths. A network spokesperson told ET that “due to scheduling challenges around taping the reunion of The Real Housewives of New York City in a timely manner, Bravo confirmed there will not be a reunion for this season.” Though it sounds like an amicable decision, a source revealed to ET that the cast was “beyond frustrated” with the reunion’s cancelation. “They never got clear answers…they just wanted to say their piece and move on,” the source continued, adding, “Now they feel like they’re going out with a whimper instead of a bang.” After a season marred by cast fighting and some racial tensions exacerbated by a more unfiltered Ramona Singer, it’s no surprise that many of the women were looking forward to clearing the air.

Following the shocking news, some of the ladies took to social media to share their thoughts. Posting a video on her Instagram Story, Leah McSweeney confided, “As much as I do feel we have things we all need to talk with each other, I’m also really relieved to not have to talk about things that happened a year ago.” Newcomer Eboni K. Williams, RHONY’s first Black cast member who moved most of this season’s plot forward, also took to her Instagram Story, sharing a photo of her custom-made reunion dress. RHONY star Eboni said, “Disappointed I won’t get to wear this masterpiece at my first #RHONY reunion.”

Most viewers won’t be surprised to learn that the lackluster season will not be getting a reunion. The shortage of much content or plot would not have provided fans with a hearty dose of reunion drama. Yes, the women would have been able to clear up some of the more unsavory moments of the season, but it may not have been the Hail Mary anyone was hoping for. Now fans are left to speculate if this news is just the beginning of major changes to The Real Housewives of New York City. Perhaps the cancelation is the butterfly that flapped its wings.
