Rotten Tomatoes Lists Wonder Woman as HighestRated Superhero Movie

Wonder Woman is currently listed as the highest-rated superhero movie on Rotten Tomatoes. Gal Gadot made her debut as Diana Prince, aka Wonder Woman, in Zack Snyder’s 2016 film, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, and she reprised her role in Patty Jenkins’ origin film earlier this year. The blockbuster movie became the first critically-acclaimed installment in Warner Bros.’ unofficially titled DC Extended Universe as well as one of the most commercially successful DC Comics films of all time.

Wonder Woman eclipsed each previous DCEU movie at the domestic box office and even surpassed Sam Raimi’s original Spider-Man film domestically as well, thus becoming the highest-grossing superhero origin story ever to release. And the film just passed the same milestone at the worldwide box office earlier this month. Aside from the movie’s box office success, what DC fans were truly happy with was Wonder Woman being “certified fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes, something that neither of Snyder’s previous films nor David Ayer’s Suicide Squad were able to accomplish. What’s more, it has now become the review aggregator’s top-rated superhero film of all time.

Rotten Tomatoes recently updated their list of the best superhero movies of all time based on their aggregation’s adjusted score, and Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman came out on top with an incredible score of 108.569%.

The other movies in Rotten Tomatoes’ top ten are as follows: Logan (107.954%), The Dark Knight (106.313%), Spider-Man: Homecoming (105.957%), Thor: Ragnarok (105.561%), The Avengers (103.989%), Iron Man (103.978%), Captain America: Civil War (103.922%), The Incredibles (103.407%), and The LEGO Batman Movie (103.162%). Seeing Wonder Woman rank higher than films such as Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight and Jon Favreau’s Iron Man may come as a shock to many moviegoers, and it’s something that even surprised Jenkins and Gadot, who both took to Twitter to express their excitement and to thank the critics and audiences for their continued support.

Wonder Woman’s theatrical run has come and gone, but the film still has some way to go before the industry moves on to Wonder Woman 2. Warner Bros. is currently giving Wonder Woman an awards season push, entering the film into virtually every potential category for the 2018 Oscars. While some may believe that Wonder Woman doesn’t stand a chance at winning an award, it’s worth pointing out the impact the film has had on the filmmaking industry and how it continues to resonate with audiences will play an integral role in its contention. For now, Wonder Woman fans can get another dose of Gadot’s beloved superhero in Snyder’s Justice League, due out later this month.
