At some point with every major popular film franchise, there is the idea of turning it into a television series. Rush Hour was no different and was developed into its own series by the same name. While the franchise films were a huge success, the television series received little praise and didn’t garner well with fans.

On IMDb, the show only received an overall 5.7 rating and Rotten Tomatoes gave it a low 22%. Critics explained that the show lacked the necessary chemistry between characters and the impactful plotlines. The show was sadly canceled after one season. Out of the total 13 episodes, there are still the top ten that received a high score on IMDb.

Coming in last on the list is episode three of the season. An Assistant District Attorney goes missing and Lee and Carter are on the case. Carter and Lee speculate it might not be foul play, but have reservations on who responsible. Behind the whole storyline is a mobster named The Turk.

The episode takes a turn when they discover the ADA’s murdered body made to look like a car accident. Lee and Carter discover there is a possible witness to the crime, but the suspected murderer will do anything to keep the witness quiet. Whoever killed the ADA wants people to believe it was a freak incident, but clues start to lead to corruption within law enforcement.

In episode two of the season, Carter and Lee need help from Carter’s cousin, Gerald (Page Kennedy). The only problem is that Lee and Carter arrested Gerald for drug dealing while they were investigating a series of homicides during home invasions. Carter and Lee notice Gerald wearing a Rolex from one of the homes and tries to convince their captain to use Gerald in the investigation.

Their captain denies their request, but Lee and Carter break out Gerald anyway. Their idea proves useless and Gerald flees. Lee puts the pieces together and determines the gang responsible for the homicides. Lee notices similar art styles withing each home that leads them to their suspect.

The episode “Assault on Precinct 7” takes audiences on a whirlwind of intense storylines and new information regarding a character. Lee’s sister, Kim (Jessika Van), informs him of the Quantou trafficking women. Lee and Carte lead the investigation and manage to secure a lead enforcer who happens to be the head leader’s son.

Things go awry as the Quantou infiltrate the precinct to break him out, but it leads to fatality. At the end of the episode, audiences discover Kim is an undercover agent for the Chinese Ministry working with the FBI and CIA.

What’s a cop show without an episode involving witness protection? An explosive as a prison facility allows Steven Baker (A.J. Buckley) to escape. Baker is looking for his estranged wife and daughter who were put into witness protection for their own safety.

Baker was the muscle for a business mogul, but Baker went down for his crimes. Baker also implicated the mogul’s son. Lee and Carter later find the wife and daughter missing but come face to face with Baker. Baker pleads innocence and claims that there is someone far worse after his family.

There is a vigilante out on the streets of Los Angeles who targets and publicly humiliates prominent people. If they don’t confess to their wrongdoings, he kills them. Lee and Carter investigate and look for seemingly ordinary people who in reality harbor dark secrets.

As the investigation ensues, the mystery killer has a connection to Carter. Carter recalls saving a man from a burning car that resulted in the death of his family. The accident was caused due to faulty equipment that should have been recalled by the company but never was.

Lee and Carter manage to thwart and armored truck heist by a motorcycle group. An online video of the fight is posted online describing a “badass cop.” Carter, at first, suspects it’s him and become prideful. His dreams are squandered when in reality it’s referring to Lee.

Meanwhile, Lee is convinced that the heist was a plan by Quantou. They start an investigation but all evidence points to a Ukrainian gang. Surprisingly enough, their investigation leads to a drug bust and two security guards. While the guards seem to be only victims, Carter suspects they are playing a ruse.

In this episode, Carter gets a love interest for a short period of time. Carter is smitten with the female witness. Lee and Carter must transport the witness from her safe house to the courtroom when they are ambushed by assassins. The witness is testifying against her boss, Emmett Perry (Boyd Kestner).

Things get complicated when she admits to having an affair with her boss that might lead to damaging her credibility as a witness. Lee and Carter must help Nina escape the hitman’s who they presume are Emmett’s doing. Things take a drastic turn when they discover it wasn’t Emmett who wants Nina dead.

A young girl, who goes by Heather, goes missing when she meets a movie producer at a hotel bar. The next day the real Heather (Spencer Grammer) goes to the precinct who explains that her younger sister, Destiny (Greer Gramer), stole her credit card and skipped town. They track down the last person Destiny was with to only have it lead to a dead end.

Lee and Carter find a hidden furnace room in the hotel and discover human remains. The forensics expert explains it’s not one but multiple human remains of various victims. Captain Cole (Wendie Mallick) warns Lee and Carter that it might be the return of a serial killer named Shea (Miles Fisher).

Captain Cole has a boring date night with a guy who seems perfect but is actually a huge dull. Cole gets stuck in the middle of a hostage situation at the L.A. concert hall. What seems like a simple robbery is actually a ploy for a bigger scheme. Cole manages to alert the police and Lee and Carter interview hostages who managed to escape.

Certain clues lead Lee and Carter to believe that it isn’t a simple negotiation plan. They are not taken into account by the leading hostage negotiators. While inside, Cole sends a message to Lee that autocorrects before she is captured. She and the detectives discover the plan was to ransom a billionaire’s daughter who is also trapped inside.

1 Family Ties (8.2)

The last episode of the series received the highest IMDb score and most resembles the Rush Hour films. While investigating a gunless and violence-less bank robbery, the detectives find out it is the work of the Quantou. They later discover that the Dragon of Quantoa plans to gather all the gang leaders of L.A.

Along the way, Lee discovers Kim’s true position as an MSS Agent. Her cover is blown when her corrupt superior rats her out. Lee, Carter and the police department must stop the summit of gang leaders while trying to save Kim.
