Her techniques for stage directing may seem out of touch but Moira has the makings of a good director because she knows how to spot potential and she also cares about her actors. She knew about Stevie’s anxieties and scheduled extra time with her so she could make her feel at ease.

She also helped the director of her big-budget Hollywood film see why the project had potential which actually had an impact on their directorial style. Moira is actually an ideal director because she can identify the selling point in any project and knows how to work on it.

This is actually revealed in Season 5 after Moira finishes filming her Hollywood movie, as fans finally realize that while Johnny wants them to build a life at Schitt’s Creek, Moira wants to cling to the life they had and can have outside the town.

After Moira ships in her red carpet dress from Harrods, Johnny expresses his anxieties about their budget constraints and tells her that their money should be reserved for the family and not for personal expenses. Moira tells him that the dress is for the family as it lets them think and venture about a future that is outside of this town, and it outlines the gaps in the couple’s approach to bankruptcy.
