Selling Sunset Why Emma Hernan Called Off Peter Cornell Engagement

Much was made about Christine Quinn’s split from Peter Cornell on Selling Sunset season 4, but the reason for the end of Peter and Emma Hernan’s engagement has now reportedly been revealed. For all the discussion about their mutual ex, Emma’s reasons for calling off their wedding never came up. Now that Peter has been confirmed as Christine and Emma’s ex behind all the drama, more details about the later relationship are coming out.

Despite taking place years ago, the love triangle caused most of the drama and fighting between the real estate agents during Selling Sunset season 4. First, Christine claimed Peter was seeing Emma behind her back. Emma maintained that they started dating months after Christine was out of the picture. Later, the new mom told Emma that Peter had proposed to her. Emma didn’t buy it, and a number of subsequent reveals poking holes in Christine’s story more or less proved her right. Viewers took Emma’s side, convinced Christine was lying. But the full story of her engagement wasn’t revealed–until now.

A source revealed to Page Six that Emma was the one who broke up with Peter. After getting engaged in 2017, the couple went their separate ways in 2018. The anonymous insider claimed that there was no drama behind the split. Instead, the two agents just grew apart and realized they weren’t right for each other. The source added that Emma and Peter, who still works for The Oppenheim Group, have remained friends. Through all the rumors and fighting, Emma consistently seemed to defend Peter, indicating they were on good terms. The two co-workers were recently seen hanging out on several occasions. They were spotted having brunch and also seen on a trip to Las Vegas. This led to some rumors that the romance wasn’t totally over. Even on the show, Christine claimed to have seen the 30-year-old’s car at their mutual ex’s home.

But a representative for Emma, who became a fan-favorite, shut that speculation down. Insisting the Vegas getaway was a business trip, the publicist explained, “The whole office was there, so they’re not dating.” Confirming the exes are on good terms, they added, “They share a lot of time together, and there’s no hostility.” And while Christine moved on to wed Christian Richard, Emma is currently single.

Emma and Peter may still be friends, but the feud that erupted over him left Christine with few friends or allies. Even Davina Potratz, once her closest confidant, wouldn’t back up her lies. The season ended with the other agents trying to confront the 33-year-old, only for nothing to get resolved. Considering Selling Sunset seasons 4 and 5 were filmed back-to-back, it’s safe to say the fighting over this will continue–that is, of course, if the surprising romance between Chrishell Stause and Jason Oppenheim doesn’t overtake the narrative.
