Sex & The City Mirandas 5 Best & 5 Worst Boyfriends

Miranda Hobbes is a smart, independent, driven woman who knows what she wants and has never been afraid to ask for it. She is straightforward in all of her relationships, whether it be with her best friends, Carrie, Charlotte, and Samantha, or with a romantic partner. Miranda doesn’t sugar coat things or put up with less than she deserves, and that’s part of her charm.

In New York City, even the most brilliant women can find themselves dating a dud, which Miranda did a few times over the course of Sex and the City’s six seasons. Luckily, Miranda also found herself falling for a couple of really wonderful guys.

10 Worst: Jack

In season two, Miranda meets Jack, played by Will Arnett. Jack seems to be a great catch and has great communication skills. He is upfront with Miranda about some of his kinks, in particular, one big one. He likes to engage in sexual activity in public.

Miranda seems okay with it at first, until one night, when Jack tries to initiate loud sex with Miranda while his parents are in his apartment. When Jack’s parents walk in on the two of them, it doesn’t stop Jack, which raises some major red flags.

9 Best: Roger

The women of Sex and the City and their fans may have judged Roger too harshly. Roger was a single dad that Miranda dated in season two of the series. The consensus is that Roger introduced Miranda to his young son too quickly, but Miranda went along with it and didn’t seem to have any issues until Roger’s son accidentally walks in on her in the nude.

Miranda, in a panic, slammed the door on the little boy, making him cry, which angered Roger and he quickly broke things off. Roger was doing his best to be a good dad and shouldn’t be ridiculed for the choices he made as a parent.

8 Worst: Ted

Ted was another guy with a few kinks that Miranda tried to have a relationship with. After Miranda finds some materials in Ted’s apartment that suggest he is into spanking, she asks him about it.

The problem with Ted is that he hasn’t come to terms with the things he finds arousing, so instead of having an adult conversation with Miranda, he freaks out. He ghosts Miranda as quickly as possible and even changes gyms to avoid running into her. Someone this ashamed of himself wouldn’t make for a very healthy or reliable partner.

7 Best: Skipper

Skipper was one of those guys who Miranda wasn’t sure about. Based on his looks, Miranda would have been quick to put him in the friend zone, not to mention he’s a bit younger than Miranda, but Skipper really likes Miranda and his attention is what keeps her coming back.

Skipper is genuine and his feelings for Miranda are real and intense. So intense that he seeks advice from Miranda’s friends to win her over. What woman wouldn’t want someone like Skipper?

6 Worst: Josh

Josh, played by Mark Feuerstein, was far from the ideal sexual partner. Miranda was struggling in the bedroom with Josh and his initial reaction was to blame her for her physical reaction, or lack thereof.

Miranda tried to work with Josh and give him some pointers, but ultimately he was not willing to put in the time and effort to ensure Miranda was enjoying their physical encounters.

5 Best: Tom

Tom was one of the sweetest, kindest, most genuine men Miranda ever came across and the way she treated him was really unfair. Miranda met Tom in Weight Watchers and the two bonded over their love of Krispy Kreme donuts. After their first sexual encounter, Miranda is left a little grossed out, to say the least.

Tom doesn’t mind getting a little messy when it comes to sex, but Miranda does mind, and she ends up shaming Tom for his bedroom manners. Tom knows he deserves a woman who will appreciate his eagerness to please and he and Miranda break things off.

4 Worst: Thomas John Anderson

Thomas John Anderson is a playwright Miranda dated in season one, who insisted on showering immediately after every sexual encounter they had.

He insists it’s because he was raised Catholic, but when Miranda tries to press him further, Anderson flips out and goes on a lengthy tirade, which he eventually writes into one of his plays as one of his main characters’ monologues. It seems as though Thomas John Anderson had a lot to sort out before he got into bed with someone.

3 Best: Robert

Robert Leeds, played by Blair Underwood, is arguably the hottest man any of the women on Sex and the City dated. He was smart, successful, and thoughtful, and he fell for Miranda, hard.

Unfortunately, Miranda was still hung up on the love of her life and she broke Robert’s heart. Robert hopefully rebounded quickly from his split with Miranda because any girl would be lucky to have a guy like him.

2 Worst: Doug

Doug, played by comedian Jim Gaffigan, had a lot of boundary issues. He and Miranda were only dating for a short amount of time, when he decided it would be appropriate to go to the bathroom in front of her.

Miranda was understandably horrified and uncomfortable, but Doug didn’t understand what the big deal was. Not only was Doug testing boundaries, he was oblivious that there should even be boundaries to begin with, which would not be a good foundation for any new relationship.

1 Best: Steve

Steve is the guy every girl hopes to end up with. He loved Miranda unconditionally and though their relationship was hard at times, Steve was always willing to put in the extra work to ensure he and Miranda could be happy together.

When Steve and Miranda have a baby together, viewers get to witness Steve take on fatherhood and thrive in his new role. Having Miranda and a baby in his life really got Steve to focus and grow up and he became such a great partner and dad.
