Shining Fates: Pokémon TCG Announces Shiny-Themed Expansion Set

The Pokémon Company International has announced Shining Fates, a new, shiny-themed expansion for the Pokémon Trading Card Game.

The Pokémon Company International has officially announced Shining Fates — a special, shiny-themed expansion set for the Pokémon Trading Card Game set to start rolling out this coming February.

Inspired by the popular Hidden Fates expansion from 2019, Shining Fates features “over 100 Shiny Pokémon on beautiful etched cards, including nine Shiny Pokémon V and seven Shiny Pokémon VMAX like the highly collectible Shiny Charizard in its Gigantamax form.” Additionally, the upcoming expansion set “introduces three more Amazing Pokémon, each featuring a Legendary or Mythical Pokémon illustrated with vividly rainbow backgrounds that extend outside of the frame. Plus, with a total of more than 30 Pokémon V and Pokémon VMAX, Trainers will be able to play with fan-favorite competitive Pokémon TCG cards from the Sword & Shield Series.”

The Shining Fates set is slated to launch on Feb. 19, 2021. That date sees the release of the Shining Fates Elite Trainer Box, which includes 10 Shining Fates booster packs, one foil promo card featuring Eevee VMAX and various gameplay accessories; the Shining Fates Tins, which include six booster packs and one foil promo card featuring either Eldegoss V, Boltund V or Cramorant V; the Shining Fates Collection – Pikachu V, which includes four booster packs, one foil promo card and one foil oversize promo card featuring Pikachu V; and the Shining Fates Mad Party Pin Collections, which include three booster packs, one foil promo card featuring Bunnelby, Dedenne, Galarian Mr. Rime, or Polteageist, as well as a corresponding pin.

Two additional releases follow suit on March 5, 2021: the Shining Fates Mini Tins and the Shining Fates Premium Collections. The mini tins include two Shining Fates booster packs and one metallic coin. Meanwhile, the Premium Collections include seven booster packs, one foil promo card featuring either Shiny Crobat V or Shiny Dragapult V, an additional foil promo card, one foil oversize promo card featuring either Shiny Crobat VMAX or Shiny Dragapult VMAX, as well as one corresponding metallic coin.
