Sister Wives How COVID19 Affected the Brown Family

The Brown family has made it through plenty of trying times on Sister Wives, but an obstacle that might prove to be the plural family’s downfall is the COVID-19 pandemic. Since the breakout of the virus, COVID-19 has had devastating effects on families across the world, and the Brown family is not immune to the pandemic’s effects. From forcing the polygamist family to spend even more time apart to arguments about how to keep everyone safe, here’s how the coronavirus impacted the Sister Wives stars.

Before the world was facing a fatal pandemic, Kody Brown and his wives were already in a precarious situation. The clan of reality stars struggled to keep their family from falling apart as Kody’s four wives dealt with their own insecurities about their marriages. Chiefly, Meri, Christine, and Janelle are all challenged by the amount of affection Kody’s latest and favorite wife, Robyn receives over them. Additionally, Kody and his wives weren’t sure what to do with their living situation as the patriarch constantly changed the family’s plans. Finally, it seems like Kody will settle his large family in his Coyote Pass plot of land, but the pandemic has thrown a wrench in the Browns’ plans.

In a new preview for the upcoming Sister Wives season 16, the family is seemingly more disconnected than ever. One reason why the Browns are set to face new challenges this season is because of the strain COVID-19 put on the family. In the trailer shared by Us Weekly, Kody asserts that his top priority during the pandemic has been keeping his family safe. Meri explained, “We basically quarantined from each other for the past six months.” Kody shared that he’s the only one who has seen all of his colossal family throughout the COVID crisis. Christine offered that the positive side of the pandemic is that it “brought out how much we want to be a family,” but it has also created new hindrances. The wives have grown suspicious of Robyn due to the restricting guidelines Meri, Christine, and Janelle believe she came up with.

On Reddit, Sister Wives fans didn’t understand why Robyn advocated for separation. One Reddit user wrote, “Robyn is incredulous at the thought of them all getting together… It’s so clear that she runs the show!” Viewers agree that the extensive Brown family should stick together during the pandemic and not adhere to the rigid rules Robyn is a proponent of. A Reddit user noted, “If they had still believed in plural marriage, COVID would have been evidence of how Heavenly Father wants everyone together under one roof.” The clan’s disagreement about how to handle COVID has divided the Brown family on an emotional level as well as a physical one. Not only are the Sister Wives stars nervous to spend time together in fear of spreading the deadly virus, but they also second-guess each other’s motives as Robyn is accused of being calculated in her guidelines for handling social distancing.

Overall, Kody and his four wives have been fighting an uphill battle for the past decade on Sister Wives, but the coronavirus might be the straw that breaks the polygamist camel’s back. After six months of separation, the sister wives seem to have lost touch with one another. Furthermore, the wives’ disparate approaches to dealing with the pandemic are adding more tension to an already highly contentious dynamic. Regretfully, not even a supply of vaccinations can protect the Sister Wives stars from the challenges that face them.
