It’s been a very long time coming for Super Smash Bros Ultimate fans, but the seventh Fighters Pass character has been revealed to be a handful of characters from Minecraft. Gamers have been eager to learn who the newcomer would be for quite some time now and they were delighted to learn that the newest Smash challenger would be announced in a social media post the day prior to the recent showcase. This now leaves a total of four unknown DLC additions for Nintendo’s crossover fighting game, with an end date for the second Fighters Pass currently set for December 2021.

So far, fans have been pretty well off with the characters Nintendo has chosen to be added to Ultimate. For example, one of the biggest Smash newcomers has been Banjo and Kazooie – a duo that is actually owned by rival hardware manufacturer Microsoft and exclusive to Xbox. While the return of Banjo in a Nintendo game made a number of fans happy, there were still quite a few fighters that topped wishlists. Suffice it to say, the newest addition will tap into the same company that lent Nintendo Banjo to bring one of the best-selling games of all time to Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

After dropping Min Min from ARMS into Smash Ultimate in June, the creator of the Smash Bros series, Masahiro Sakurai, finally revealed that the noodle-armed aggressor will be joined by none other than Steve, Alex, Zombie, and Enderman of Minecraft fame. The newcomer was announced in a live video on Nintendo’s YouTube channel, with the promise of future details arriving in a formal ‘Sakurai Presents’ showcase on October 3 at 10:30 am ET.

Seeing Steve in all of his pixelated glory interacting with the roster of Smash Bros is surreal, but some gamers think that this could signal the end of Halo’s Master Chief bid at becoming Ultimate DLC. Of course, there’s nothing stopping Nintendo from securing those rights if Microsoft is open to it, and with the four remaining characters still left to be revealed in Fighters Pass 2 there’s no telling who else could be added.

Of course, many gamers had been keeping their fingers crossed for Geno or Crash Bandicoot to appear in Smash Ultimate. Fortunately, there’s still plenty of time and room for all of those reps to join if that’s what Nintendo has planned. Although, predicting who will join the fray has proven nearly impossible thus far.
