Sonys Monster Hunter Movie Cast Includes Ron Perlman TI Harris

The cast of Sony’s Monster Hunter has grown a little bigger with Ron Perlman and T.I. Harris joining the film. The movie is based on the video game series of the same name, which allows players to gather resources, craft weapons, and go on quests to slay monsters.

Director Paul W.S. Anderson first sparked interest in a Monster Hunter movie back in 2012, but now the project has become a reality. Four years later, it was announced that Anderson and his production partner Jeremy Bolt had entered negotiations to make the video game into a movie. Not much had been heard about the project since then, but this year Milla Jovovich was cast in the lead role with the movie expected to start filming in Cape Town, South Africa this month. While the game Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate was released earlier this year, not very many updates on the film’s status had been made public, until now.

According to THR, Ron Perlman and T.I. Harris have joined the cast of Anderson’s Monster Hunter. Perlman is said to be playing a character named Admiral who leads the Hunter’s Crew and Harris will play a Sniper who goes by the name Link. It’s currently unknown how big of a role each of these characters will play in the movie, but given both actors’ previous acting experience, it’s possible they could have been given substantial roles.

Perlman is mostly known for playing the roles of Clarence ‘Clay’ Morrow on FX’s Sons of Anarchy, as well as playing the lead in Guillermo del Toro’s two Hellboy movies. Most recently, Perlman has acted in the Crackle original series called StartUp which also stars Martin Freeman, Adam Brody, and Edi Gathegi. Harris, on the other hand, began his career in the music business as a hip-hop artist. More recently he has been acting in more films including Marvel’s Ant-Man and the sequel Ant-Man And The Wasp.

Harris and Perlman will be acting alongside the aforementioned Jovovich, who was the lead actress in all six of the Resident Evil movies. Anderson was also heavily involved with this video game adaptation as he directed the first and last three movies in the series. Even though the Resident Evil movies have their flaws, Jovovich and her husband, Anderson, managed to keep the series running for several years. If this first Monster Hunter movie does well at the box office, it’s likely this title could branch into another long-running video game series as well.
