The Spectacular Spider-Man is a series filled with a lot of likable characters, which makes it all the more spectacular when Spider-Man saves them.

The Spectacular Spider-Man is an animated Spider-Man series with a large cast of familiar characters who are often even more over-the-top than their Marvel Comics counterparts. There are its rogue gallery, Peter’s classmates, and a few love interests.
Sadly, wasn’t able to fully explore the possible depths of every character in the series, since the show lasted for only two short seasons. Still, the characters that viewers saw were very enjoyable to watch, and many had very lovable (or at least likable) traits that made audiences want them to appear in every episode.
10 Eddie Brock
Venom may not be the most likable character in Spidey’s world, but before Eddie Brock becomes jaded and hateful toward Spider-Man, he was actually a pretty nice guy. It’s established that he protected Peter from bullies when they were both in high school together, and they have a very close relationship, shown by them calling each other “bro.”
When Electro and the Lizard attack, Eddie throws himself into danger to protect others. He clearly cares about other people, especially Gwen. The fact that he is so likable at first makes it all the more tragic later when he becomes the supervillain Venom.
9 J. Jonah Jameson
There are many things that comic book fans know about J. Jonah Jameson, but no one can deny that whenever he’s on-screen, he’s great. He’s not particularly likable on the surface, in fact he can be quite mean and abrasive. But when the Rhino attacks the daily bugle looking for Peter Parker, Jameson bravely protects him, showing everyone what a good guy he truly is.
He is later shown to be really proud of his son, whom he brags about to all his co-workers. he also makes time to spend with his wife, and overall he cares about the people around him. He just has a hard time showing it.
8 Flash Thompson
While Flash Thompson is a bully, he does have some likable qualities. He cares about his ex-girlfriend Liz, breaking up with her in the kindest way that he can. He also adores Spider-Man and constantly tries to be a hero himself, which actually helps Spider-Man on a few occasions. When Peter starts being affected by the symbiote, it is Flash who snaps him out of it.
It seems that when Flash starts hanging out with Mary Jane, he becomes a lot more toned down and likable. This becomes even more apparent when he starts trying to win another girl’s affections by joining the drama club, as this causes him to actually consider other people’s interests.
7 Liz Allen
Liz starts off the series as a snobby cheerleader, but she becomes much more likable as the show continues. After she and Peter study together, she becomes a lot kinder to him despite them being from different social circles.
While people may not love her and Peter’s relationship in season 2, audiences can’t help but feel sorry for her in the episode “Gangland,” one of the best episodes in The Spectacular Spider-Man. She is abandoned by Peter on a group date, as he has to go off and fight crime. A situation like that is bound to make someone more likable, as viewers feel for them in that instant.
6 Felicia Hardy/Black Cat
Felicia Hardy, otherwise known as Black Cat, is one of Spectacular Spider-Man’s best villains, mainly because she is just so likable. As a result, she becomes more of an antihero, as she is mainly just looking to steal things rather than cause actual harm to other people. She has a great air of ease about her, as if nothing fazes her, which definitely helps viewers ease up to her.
She has great banter with Spider-Man, and when the two team up for an episode, it’s very enjoyable to see them work together. Ultimately, it’s a shame that audiences didn’t get to see more of her, because she was always incredibly fun to watch.
5 Betty Brant
Betty Brant is J. Jonah Jameson’s assistant at the Daily Bugle, and she does a lot of work in softening him up and making him seem more approachable. In order to deal with her boss, she is very easy-going and chipper, and always greets everyone with a kind energy. Since she has more of a people-facing job, she of course has to get along with people.
Her likability immediately draws Peter to her. He later asks Betty to his high school dance, and while she rejects him due to their age difference, she is very kind about it. Even Aunt May likes her, calling her a “sensible girl.”
4 Gwen Stacy
One of many interesting facts about The Spectacular Spider-Man is that this show was the first time Gwen was a series regular in Spider-Man cartoons. She is Peter’s best friend, and her clear affection for him is endearing. She also has great relationships with other characters, and the fact that Eddie Brock, who becomes one of the most hateful characters, still likes her makes it clear just how likable Gwen is.While often the other characters can consider Gwen to be a little naggy, she only talks to them sternly because she cares deeply about them. She always wants to do the right thing, and hopes that her friends will try to be their best selves just like she does.
3 Peter Parker/Spider-Man
The show wouldn’t be as popular as it was if Spider-Man wasn’t as likable as he is. Peter Parker is a smart, brave, and wise-cracking hero. He always saves the day, which makes it impossible for anyone (except his enemies) to dislike him. Spider-Man’s of course got many spectacular quips, which makes him all the more fun to watch.
But what makes him so easy to root for is that he is an Everyman. When he’s not fighting crime, he’s just trying to make it through high school, avoid bullies, take care of his aunt, and pay bills. These factors make him extremely relatable, which in turn make him very likable.
2 May Parker
Aunt May is a moral compass in Peter’s life, and it helps that she’s extremely endearing. She’s very funny, as when people start to believe that Peter might be Spider-Man, and she gets asked about it, she wonders if she’s being Punk’d. She also tricks Peter into going to his school dance with Mary Jane, after discouraging Betty Brant from going with him in a hilarious scene.
She is also a very sweet and doting aunt, and the scenes that she’s in never fail to make the viewer smile. Even when she is telling Peter off she is still likable, as it’s clear that she hates being strict, and proceeds to give him a slice of banana cake immediately afterwards.
1 Mary Jane Watson
As soon as audiences heard “Face it, tiger, you just hit the jackpot,” they immediately fell in love with Mary Jane. This iteration of the character is described by Aunt May as having “a wonderful personality,” and it’s accurate. MJ doesn’t take herself or her relationships too seriously, but she is also very kind and supports her friends through any relationship drama that they might have.
It is mainly due to her that Peter’s school’s student hierarchy breaks down. Since she is close friends with Flash and Gwen, jocks and nerds start hanging out with one another. This shows the power of her likability, as she is able to spread those vibes to everyone else.
