Fans have gotten into a brawl for Spider-Man: No Way Home tickets. On Monday (November 29), pre-ordering passes for the upcoming Jon Watts and Tom Holland film went on sale. It was a struggle for many fans as AMC and other ticketing websites and apps crashed. But things got a little bit more heated and even violent when people ended up fighting each other over tickets.

With less than three weeks to go before Spider-Man: No Way Home exclusively hits theaters, marketing for the film is ramping up, and fans’ anticipation is at an all-time high. Set after the events of Spider-Man: Far From Home, the threequel will see Peter Parker (Tom Holland) deal with the fallout of his secret superhero identity being outed. Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) attempts to help the young Avenger, but it only makes things worse as the sorcerer inadvertently opens the multiverse. This results in the appearance of villains from other dimensions, with persistent rumors that both Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire are returning to reprise their respective versions of Spider-Man.

As reported by local news outlet, Diario de Morelos (via New York Post), the fight, which broke at a theater in Cuernavaca Mexico, involved overly eager fans who were hoping to secure their Spider-Man: No Way Home tickets. Apparently, people rushed to the cinemas to buy their passes, but the ticketing sites crashed, leaving them unable to purchase tickets. According to the newspaper, the movie-goers were beaten by “young people who wanted to get in line for the pre-sale of Spider-Man: No Way Home.” It’s unclear what really instigated the incident, but Diario de Morelos’ official Twitter account shared the video of the brawl. Given Spider-Man’s popularity, there’s no denying that fans would be interested in seeing his next film. But this anticipation has been significantly elevated due to a couple of reasons. For starters, the movie is billed to be the culmination of MCU’s Spider-Man franchise as it wraps up Holland’s trilogy. Secondly, it will also have ties to both Sam Raimi and Marc Webb’s respective movies. Villains from past eras are appearing to fight the current iteration of the wall-crawler, such as Doc Ock (Alfred Molina), Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe), and Electro (Jamie Foxx), among others. And finally, and perhaps the biggest audience pull for the blockbuster is the possibility of seeing Garfield and Maguire suit back up as their respective iterations of Spider-Man.

Spider-Man: No Way Home has officially posted the highest ticket pre-sales since Avengers: Endgame — yet another indication of just how excited fans are for the movie. But, securing passes shouldn’t be this tricky and certainly shouldn’t turn violent. Hopefully, no other incidents like the one in Mexico are seen from here on out, and fans can all enjoy the long-anticipated film when it releases later this month.
