SpiderMan Is A FullFledged Avenger In No Way Home Says Tom Holland

Peter Parker is a full-fledged Avenger in Spider-Man: No Way Home according to Tom Holland. In the upcoming Sony-Marvel film, Holland suits up for his third solo outing as Spider-Man and his sixth overall appearance in the MCU. Since being introduced in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War as a high-school student with spider-like superpowers, Peter Parker has progressively become more powerful with each installment, hoping one day to live up to his heroes in the Avengers like Iron Man and Captain America.

On the heels of J. Jonah Jameson (J.K. Simmons) and Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) revealing his secret identity to the world at the end of Far From Home, Peter will now turn to another Avenger in Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) to concoct a magical solution to this mess. However, his spell accidentally breaks open the multiverse, unleashing multiple villains from alternate realities onto the MCU like Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus and Jamie Foxx’s Electro.

Gearing up for the film’s release next month, Tom Holland recently spoke with Total Film (via GamesRadar) to offer some insight into Spider-Man: No Way Home. Holland says that his character has now “established himself as quite a powerful and serious Avenger,” at this point in the films, which will in turn impact his relationship with Doctor Strange. At this point in the films, Spider-Man has established himself as quite a powerful and serious Avenger. Doctor Strange sees that in him, and treats him like an equal. And throughout the course of the film, their relationship breaks down.

Given the sheer number of villains that might be appearing in No Way Home, Spider-Man will have to be at the height of his powers if he wishes come out on top. Doc Ock and Electro have already been confirmed to appear, while an appearance from Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin remains likely. Fans have also pointed to various clues in the trailer that suggest the return of Sandman (Thomas Haden Church) and Lizard (Rhys Ifans). If all these villains do appear, Holland’s Spider-Man may need appearances from Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Men after all to tip the scales back in his favor.

Holland has previously said that No Way Home is the end of the Homecoming franchise in its current form, so it makes sense the film would complete Peter’s arc by going from a small-time crimefighter in New York City to solidifying him as one of Earth’s mightiest heroes. Peter has fought alongside the Avengers before but in Spider-Man: No Way Home, he might be powerful enough to best even the likes of Doctor Strange. The extent of Spider-Man’s powers will be revealed when the film releases in theaters on December 17.
