Hot Toys has announced a screen-accurate sixth scale figure based on Jamie Foxx’s Electro from Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Available for pre-order on Sideshow, the upcoming Marvel figure boasts “a newly developed head sculpt of Max Dillon a.k.a. Electro with stunning likeness; a detail recreation of his practical outfit with real-like cables; lightning effect accessories including a star-shaped mask inspired by his original design from comic pages; and a figure stand.” The figure stands approximately 11.41″ tall and features over 30 points of articulations in the body along with six interchangeable gloved hands.
The product is expected to ship in 2023 between July and December. Electro is the third villain from Spider-Man: No Way Home to receive a Hot Toys sixth scale figure, after Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock and Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin. Spider-Man and Doctor Strange figures based on the likenesses of Tom Holland and Benedict Cumberbatch from the 2021 film are also available for pre-order, meaning fans of No Way Home and collectible figures will be one step closer to reenacting the climactic final battle at the Statue of Liberty on their shelves.
Created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, Max Dillon/Electro first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #9 in February 1964. The original version of the character was a lineman for an electric company that was struck by lightning while working on a power line and became a living electric capacitor. The character’s origin was rewritten in the Ultimate Marvel comics, with his powers coming through experimentation with bioengineering. Foxx’s version that debuted in 2014’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was inspired by Ultimate Electro. When Foxx reprised the role in No Way Home, the character was given a drastic redesign, which the actor explains was done to make Electro “cool” as well as “impactful” and “a little more grounded.”
Spider-Man: No Way Home was an instant box office smash hit upon its release in December 2021. The film grossed $1.89 billion globally and made a healthy profit of $610 million for Sony and Marvel. The film also dethroned James Cameron’s Avatar to become the third highest-grossing film at the domestic box office of all time. While a sequel has not yet been officially announced for Spider-Man: No Way Home, Sony is rumored to be looking to develop a spinoff film focused on Foxx’s Electro.
Fans can pre-order the Electro Hot Toys figure for $285 and watch Foxx’s Electro in Spider-Man: No Way Home, which is now available on Digital, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD.
