Star Wars 10 Characters We Hope To See In Squadrons

The Star Wars franchise is set to get a little bit bigger thanks to a brand new in canon game from Lucasfilm and EA. Star Wars: Squadrons is going to give fans the chance to get behind the wheel of some of the franchises most famous vehicles. While fans will naturally assume that X-Wings and Tie Fighters will be appearing throughout the game, there’s also a chance that some familiar faces will also be making a comeback.

The trailers seemed to confirm that Syndulla and Wedge Antilles will both be featured, so there’s no telling who else could be showing up. Here are ten more Star Wars characters from all forms of media – movies, cartoons, video games, etc. – that we want to see in the upcoming game.

10 Iden Versio (Star Wars Battlefront II)

Iden Versio has already been well established by EA in Battlefront II and she’s clearly a character that they are fond of. Previously part of the elite Inferno Squad, the character could fit perfectly into this new gaming franchise.

The timeline would indicate that she could still be serving the Empire, the Squadrons will be taking place before her death just before the battle of the Starkiller Base. It would likely be very easy for Lucasfilm to fit her into this upcoming story.

9 Cal Kestis (Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order)

Another character that has been slowly developed across a canon video game is Cal Kestis. His timeline is a little different as the majority of the young Jedi’s story takes place during the Galactic Empire.

However, he could very well still be alive after the Empire has fallen and may provide a little side mission for fans to explore, without ruining what may happen in the future of the Jedi: Fallen Order franchise.

8 Nien Nunb (Star Wars Original & Sequel Trilogy)

Nien Nunb is perhaps one of the most underrated characters in the galaxy far far away. He has been present during both the Rebels and the Resistance and is a fantastic pilot.

He’s appeared sporadically across Star Wars including in some of the video games, so it wouldn’t be too surprising for the character model to be inserted here. He’d be a great addition that continues to make this universe feel connected.

7 Chopper (Star Wars Rebels)

With Hera seemingly confirmed for the game Star Wars: Rebels will certainly be making its presence known. It’s safe to say that if these warriors are taking part in the conflict then Chopper could be appearing as well.

After the Rebels finale, the droid is still helping out Hera, with the two having been confirmed to work together during the Battle of Endor in a Forces Of Destiny short film. It makes sense for there to be a cameo from the orange droid!

6 Norra Wexley (Star Wars: Aftermath)

Norra Wexley is one of the best pilots that the galaxy has and has worked with the Rebels for many years. She wasn’t shown in the movies, but she was a key part of the Aftermath trilogy of novels.

The character is still a pilot with the Resistance after the fall of the Empire in Return Of The Jedi and is going on various missions across the galaxy. It’s likely that players will be able to run into her at some point during their own travels.

5 Poe Dameron (Star Wars Sequel Trilogy)

Poe Dameron would have been a lot younger at this stage in the time period, although he did start learning to fly at a very early age. His parents were both pilots, so perhaps they could be featured in the plot with a young Poe making a cameo.

Dameron later went on to train under Wedge Antilles, who will be making an appearance in Squadrons. With so many ties to the character therefore it would be a shame to leave him out.

4 Cara Dune (The Mandalorian)

Cara Dune was a shock trooper for the Rebels and participated in a number of skirmishes after the Battle of Endor. After this her allegiances were mixed between the good of the galaxy and her own needs.

She ended up abandoning the Resistance but around the time frame that the game is set, it would likely be the case that Dune would still be hunting down former Imperials. Perhaps the pilots can give her a lift to her next mission.

3 Chelli Lona Aphra (Marvel’s Star Wars Comics)

Doctor Aphra has a complicated history within the comics that Marvel has produced for the Star Wars brand. She previously worked with Darth Vader before his attempts to kill her.

With a mixture of alliances, Aphra is just trying to survive in a galaxy that’s tearing itself apart. As one of the only original people to receive their own comic title, she could be an interesting and complex character for players to interact with.

2 Boba Fett (Star Wars Original Trilogy)

Boba Fett could be returning on Disney+ alongside the Mandalorian himself, or he may not be making a comeback at all. However, the Star Wars novels have already indicated he may be still alive.

It would be fun to therefore have some kind of cameo from Fett, even if it’s a version of the Slave II or perhaps one of the other ships that the bounty hunter has been known to use in the past.

1 Captain Rex (Star Wars: The Clone Wars)

Captain Rex of the Clone Wars era has also been featured across multiple mediums. The character may also be appearing on Disney+ but he’s well established around the time of the Battle of Endor.

Since this video game series will take place after destruction of the Death Star, Rex could return as a retired Captain, looking to get some discipline in the new recruits who want to serve the emerging Republic.
