Last Jedi had some amazing artwork for its posters. These really left a mark.

Following the undeniable success of The Force Awakens, Star Wars fans were excited to see what would come in the next installment of Disney’s sequel trilogy; The Last Jedi.
Fans did not need to have promotional material to be excited for auteur filmmaker Rian Johnson’s entry into the trilogy. However, a series of great posters certainly did not hurt the anticipation felt for the movie.
16 FIGHTER > LEADER
Every sequel trilogy film has had a series of character posters released in the build-up to the movie. The Last Jedi released a series with the main characters donning red-colored versions of their gear.
There is no real difference in quality between the quality of these posters. Poe’s version falls bottom based on formality mostly. It is decently designed, but fall short of the quality of The Force Awakens efforts.
15 THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RIGHT AND WRONG
Next up is Finn’s character poster. Finn had a strange journey in The Last Jedi, his story was right in idea, but a bit poor in execution with the Rose romance and Canto Bight portion of the movie disappointing.
Finn’s poster just shows him in Poe’s old jacket, but in red. It is a very cool jacket, which is the only real justification of putting it over Poe’s poster.
14 NO ONE
Unlike the posters which show Finn and Poe Dameron donning their typical clothing that has only gotten changed to red for the poster, Rey is not wearing her primary clothing of the film.
Rey is wearing the robe she uses on Ach-To, rather than the robes she trains in. She wields Luke/Anakin’s saber, which adds to the poster.
13 LET THE PAST DIE
Next up in the continuing trend of character posters is that of Kylo Ren, the standout of the sequel trilogy, which also delivers in this poster.
Kylo’s outfits are consistently cool throughout the trilogy, but in The Last Jedi, he loses the helmet. So, this poster has Adam Driver’s face, and his new scar on display, with a grip on his almost iconic lightsaber.
12 OUR PRINCESS, OUR GENERAL
The passing of the legendary Carrie Fisher in 2016 sent a shockwave throughout the world both in and out of the Star Wars fandom. Her role in The Last Jedi was up for a lot of discussions.
Ultimately she had a full role in The Last Jedi, and this poster of her was able to garner a somber type of excitement for seeing Leia in original footage shot specifically for this movie for the last time.
11 RETURN OF THE JEDI
The Force Awakens had very little of Luke Skywalker, with the legendary Jedi only appearing in the film’s closing seconds.
Fans were excited to have more of Luke, which got promised for The Last Jedi, and this poster reaffirmed this. His beard and the fact he wields his classic blue lightsaber are the best details of the poster.
10 THE IMAX
IMAX has released four original artwork posters and one photo-based poster for every sequel trilogy film. Every time the artwork is insane and much better than the photo poster.
The Last Jedi’s IMAX poster is OK, but it is just a not as good version of both the proper official poster and the international poster.
9 THE TEASER
The teaser posters are all simple and all great. But, The Force Awakens teaser was unique in that it was the first glimpse, and done the job of the poster in that it induced excitement.
The Last Jedi’s teaser is not as good in that regard as The Force Awakens, but the red is cool and welcomed, making it a great, simple poster, and superior to the blue of The Rise Of Skywalker.
8 THE INTERNATIONAL
The worldwide reach of Star Wars has always been something to admire. The scope of the franchise means there are usually different looking posters and marketing.
This international poster for The Last Jedi is similar to the regular poster. But, what stands out is Luke wielding his lightsaber opposite Kylo wielding his. It is good, but not as good.
7 THE DOLBY
The DOLBY poster is a bit more unique than the other posters in the photography, collage style.
The red hue that goes over the characters is pretty cool, the shadow over Luke’s face is telling, and the pictures of the characters used are all more in motion than the usual standstill smolders.
6 FINN & PHASMA
The IMAX artwork photos got a mention earlier, and the first to appear on this list is a gorgeous piece of the Finn and Phasma fight.
It is a beautifully designed piece, the colors, the action, the characters, they are all exceptionally well done. The poster falls last only because it does not inspire as much excitement as the other three.
5 TRAINING
Another from the fantastic set of four is the piece that depicts Rey training and Luke watching over her upon a hill.
It, again, is beautiful and gets you excited for not only seeing Luke but for seeing Luke and Rey together, on Ach-To, with a master and apprentice dynamic.
4 KYLO & SNOKE
Remaining with the IMAX artwork posters, this one looks at what was, before the release of the movie, two of the most exciting aspects, Kylo Ren and Snoke.
The reds and blues of the piece, as well as seeing the characters in the throne room, are all fantastic in this poster. Also, seeing the Praetorian guards look as though they are going to attack Kylo is very interesting and exciting.
3 BATTLE ON CRAIT
Any of the four pieces of art could get argued as being the best, but topping the four, here is the poster depicting the Battle of Crait.
The poster is action-packed, a lot is going on with AT-M6 walkers, TIE fighters, a shuttle, ski-speeders, and just total carnage. It gets you pumped for the movie and is just a terrific made poster, as all are – done by Dan Mumford.
2 THE CLASSIC
The official full release poster of all the sequel trilogy films are done in the classic style, but with photography rather than illustration. While this may take away from the quality, they are still terrific.
Kylo and Rey side by side is fantastic, so too is the Battle of Crait beginning at the bottom of the page. Seeing the collection of characters is always welcome on Star Wars posters, and Luke Skywalker sitting atop the poster is pretty epic.
1 THE BALANCE
This poster is really fantastic, and one of the best Star Wars posters of all time. It sees Rey, Kylo Ren, and Luke, the three standouts of the movie, in a standout poster.
It puts a twist on what is seen in the classic A New Hope poster. It hints at the story of Rey and her internal struggle between the Dark Side and the Light Side. It is a poster that not only looks amazing but has a meaning and a message.
