Star Wars Temuera Morrison Will Be Back As Boba Fett Sooner Than You Thought

Temuera Morrison will play Boba Fett once more in the upcoming TV series The Book of Boba Fett, but he will actually reprise his role a lot sooner, and here’s where and when. Star Wars continues to be one of the most extensive and popular franchises in entertainment, and even though the Skywalker saga has come to an end with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, that wasn’t the end of this universe. Star Wars is in constant expansion through other media, and while the movies are what made it so popular, it has found new life and lots of success in the realm of streaming.

Star Wars has been branching out to other media for years, and while it brought two animated TV shows in the 1980s, its reign on TV began with The Clone Wars, and now thanks to the streaming era and under Disney’s wing, Star Wars has been taking over streaming thanks to Disney+. It all began with The Mandalorian in 2019, which became one of the platform’s most successful original TV shows, and made way for a couple of spinoffs focused on characters that, while popular, were left aside in the Skywalker saga. Such is the case of Boba Fett, who made a triumphant return in The Mandalorian and will now get his own TV show, but he will actually return sooner than everyone thought.

Boba Fett is currently played by Temuera Morrison, who joined the Star Wars universe in 2002 when he played Jango Fett, Boba’s adoptive father, in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones, and returned in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith as Commander Cody and different clone troopers. Morrison went on to appear in other projects in both film and TV far from the Star Wars universe, but when The Mandalorian arrived and Boba Fett’s return was announced, so was his. Morrison was cast as Boba Fett and appeared in four episodes in The Mandalorian season 2. Given the popularity of Boba Fett, the character was given his own TV show, titled The Book of Boba Fett, with Morrison reprising his role, but before the show premieres, he will voice the legendary bounty hunter in Star Wars: Visions, to be released on Disney+ on September 22.

In addition to animated TV shows and live-action series, Star Wars has also explored the world of animated micro-series, such as with Forces of Destiny, and the latest project from this branch is Star Wars: Visions, a Japanese anime anthology series. Visions consists of nine short films telling original stories based on the Star Wars universe, and one of those, titled “Tatooine Rhapsody”, will bring Boba Fett back. The bounty hunter is voiced in the Japanese version by Akio Kaneda and by Temuera Morrison in the English dub, marking his return as Boba Fett before The Book of Boba Fett is released. Details about the plot of The Book of Boba Fett have been kept under wraps, but it will see the return of Ming-Na Wen’s Fennec Shand from The Mandalorian, further connecting both projects, and is scheduled for a December 2021 release on Disney+.

Fans are surely looking forward to continuing exploring Boba Fett’s story and for Temuera Morrison to return to play the character, and his participation in Star Wars: Visions will help make the wait for The Book of Boba Fett more bearable.
