Stardew Valley Mod Adds A Haunted Chocolatier Inspired By Devs New Game

A new mod for Stardew Valley adds a haunted chocolatier and accompanying elements to the game, seemingly inspired by the developer ConcernedApe’s newly announced title. Since launching in 2016, the simulation role-playing game remains popular in part due to its atmosphere, new updates, and third-party mods. Though developer Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone recently stated that he might not continue further updates for Stardew Valley, fans still create mods to enhance the video game’s experience.

Last month, ConcernedApe revealed he is making a new game called Haunted Chocolatier. This new title retains Stardew Valley’s pixelated graphics and life-sim activities (like crafting) – except in this case, the main character crafts chocolate to sell to residents in a town that looks similar to Stardew Valley’s Pelican Town. Instead of living on a farm, however, the main character lives in a haunted mansion filled with seemingly helpful ghosts. In the trailer released by ConcernedApe, gameplay appears to include familiar social interactions and even similar monsters fought in Stardew Valley. Although the differences between the two games may seem subtle now, future previews and trailers will undoubtedly show how Haunted Chocolatier is different from Stardew Valley in greater detail.

As reported by GamesRadar+, a new mod for Stardew Valley adds a haunted chocolatier via features similar to those shown in the new game’s trailer. Mod creator Edu Anttunes posted their Stardew Valley mod, aptly named “Haunted Chocolatier,” on Nexus Mods. The mod adds cocoa trees available for harvest and four new chocolate recipes: a chocolate bar, a white chocolate bar, cooking chocolate, and a simple truffle. The “Haunted Chocolatier” mod will also add new furniture that replaces a couple of the existing furniture options in the game. The modern bench will be replaced by ghosts, a chocolate cauldron will replace the modern dinner table, and a shop sign will replace the Joja Cola sign. Custom wallpaper and flooring completes the Haunted Chocolatier look.

Though it has yet to be revealed whether Haunted Chocolatier will be in the same universe as Stardew Valley, Edu Anttunes’ mod shows how that could look. Fans were quick to point out that the green mountain range shown in ConcernedApe’s trailer for Haunted Chocolatier looked very similar to Stardew Valley’s mountain range. However, the similarity may be due to the new game using the same code as its predecessor.

ConcernedApe’s Haunted Chocolatier does not have an official release date just yet. The game has only been in development for about a year, so fans can only speculate when it will be released. Thankfully, with Edu Anttunes’ “Haunted Chocolatier” mod for Stardew Valley, fans can imagine what Haunted Chocolatier may look like.
